Marvel Preps 'Moon Knight' TV Series
Signs Deal WIth Vancouver Studio

October 26, 2006
Marvel Entertainment has inked a deal with No Equal Entertainment, a Vancouver-based production company, to develop a live action TV series based on Moon Knight. Doug Moench and Don Perlin created the Marc Spector (aka Moon Knight) character and introduced him in Werewolf By Night #32 way back in 1975.

Moon Knight has experienced a comic book revival in 2006 thanks to novelist Charlie Huston and artist David Finch, who have collaborated on a new on-going Moon Knight comic series, The most recent issue of Moon Knight was the 28th most popular comic book released in September with North American sales of nearly 65,000 copies.

With the demise of the Blade TV series, it will be up to Moon Knight to plant the live action flag of second tier Marvel characters in the land of the small screen

Tough sell, this.

It'll either be really good or really bad with very little in the way of middle ground. It'll also be interesting to see if they go with the white costume look - after all, won't it be a tad too bright for TV?

Personally, if I were Marvel, I'd be more interested in pursuing a super-hero that may have more mainstream appeal (ie. a character who can do more than fight super-villains and perhaps be used to tackle more real world issues!).

Cage would be a good one. Could deal with the occasional super-powered villain but you then have the potential to deal with more typical criminal and gang elements (after all, Cage is a Hero for Hire... the crime bosses would be trying to hire him). You also have racial issues that can be dealt with...

Daughters of the Dragon too...

Although, if Marvel wanted to go full-on super hero - go for an X-Men TV series. They could rip the stories straight out of the comic and have each season explore a theme (ie. Season 1 would explore Magneto and the US Government's Sentinel program; Season 2 would concentrate on Phoenix and the Hellfire Club etc etc). They can limit the number of characters on the team although leave plenty of room for cameos from characters that'll get the fanboys all weak at the knees. Plus, X-Men is kinda helped by the fact that people will tune in following the success of the movie franchise. Just get me and Joss Whedon to write and the viewing audience would love the intelligent, character driven stories that we would undoubtedly produce!

Ah, no...

Although I would use his celebrity connections to help me get a one night only with Sarah Michelle Gellar. She can even bring her stake!

Not up to making the tea then...?

And i dont want to think about what you want SMG to do with her stake... it's even more scarey than the thought of you sitting at your computer in your Robin outfit!!!

However, I do look foward to Ann reading that post at some time in the distant future.... or near future if I give her a ring and suggests she joins the forum!! Twisted Evil

I've already suggested that she join the forums...

I'm sure she wouldn't bother with a screen name; just Ann would do and then it wouldn't take long before she started putting everyone in their place!

Well... she'd put ME in my place... or at least, she thinks she can...
