I came here to post about a new con I was just told about and was shocked to see there is no BICS thread either.

We (CyNic and I) are definitely going - who else are we going to see there?

We went for the first time last year and it was really good fun. What is more it is held in a big science museum that has lots of interactive exhibits obviously intended for 12 year olds which we loved. Personal favourites were the hole with a button you could press to smell fox wee and the farting digestion system  Laughing  You can read the full round up of our adventures last year on CyNic's blog:

Bics 2007 Day one
Bics 2007Day two
Bics 2007 Day three

The event this year runs 4-5 of October more details on the BICS website

The Official PR says:

"BICS 2008 is the largest and best comics related event on the UK calendar.

Special guests include: Michael Golden, Steve Niles, Mark Chiarello, Olivier Coipel, Dave Gibbons, Charlie Adlard, Mark Buckingham, Alan Davis, plus many many more. Visitors can also expect a packed program of events all weekend as well as a huge comic fair featuring a startling array of retailers, publishers and creators.

This is one event no comics fan will want to miss.

Entry is £10 for the day, or £16 for the weekend, including all events and panels."

So, who is coming along?

I would say Bristol and Birmingham are the equal best cons in this country.

Let us know if you do decide to go and we can meet up.

For a vicarious BICS experience for those that couldn't make it Cy has written up our weekend's adventures on his blog:

Day One: Party Politics

Day Two: The Money/Mouth Equation

Day Three: Juggernaut Vs Blog - Solved By Science

Roll on Thought Bubble and Bristol 2009

There is talk of New York as well - but we will have to count our pennies.
