Used to be but I just find it too patchey. Dred's always good but a lot of the stories take themselves to seriously or don't offer enough jumping on points. I feel bad because I kinda feel like I should support 2000AD, but I just don't have the cash to buy a weekly that I'm not that interested in. _________________ Blog archive 2006
I like what i read in 2000ad but only sporadically its something i can't be bothered to follow. Dredd will always be cool though _________________ Ninjarific
Ive been thinking of trying it out, but I dont know if I would be able to jump into it, as Kingmouse said.
Also the non interesting weekly are you still reading countdown KM or did you never start???
You can kinda jump onto it, but most of the writers seem to rely on you reading the first episode of a particular arc in order to get the rest which means you have to work through several issues before you've filtered out the stories you don't understand, that or start by buying a stack of back issues. Even then most of the stories don't match up to Dread.
Started on Countdown but despite being the resident 52 fanboy, it just didn't do it for me. I'm all for continuity but when I'm paying 2 quid per week for what is basically an advert for DC's other sub-par titles then I'm out. The said it was going to be the backbone of DC, but at the moment it's the main reason the wheels seem to have fallen off the company. JSA and JLA are my only DC titles left now and even they've been damaged by the pointless number of crossovers. _________________ Blog archive 2006
I would love to read 2000ad but as been said elsewhere, while some titles within its pages are generally excellent (Dredd, Slaine, ABC Warriors, Sinister Dexter) to much of it is not good enough to justify a weekly spend.
Hey Reaper,
I'm a massive 2000AD fan. The weekly prog is on a high at the moment with some quality art and stories.
Dredd continues on a high at the moment, is old stonet face startuing to mellow in his old age?
ABC Warriors, stupendous art from the Langley droid, one of Pt Milss better stories for the characters this time, chock full of ideas.
Caballistics Inc, returns in it's final arc. Superb script from Goron Rennie and nice atmospheric art from Dom Reardon.
Button Man; Wagner continues the story in it's 4th outing. Arthur Ransom is replaced by Frazer Irving on art duties. I have to say although I love Irvings stuff, check out the Storming Heaven graphic novel, I miss Ransoms realisum.
Stone Island 2 from Scarlet Traces Ian Edginton and painted art supplied by Simon Davis.
Well worth picking up weith more creativity than many an American book.
Well, welcome captainskank - though it must be said there does seem to be to many captains around here hmmmm, time for a promotion maybe??
Good to see a proper 2000AD fans has found their way to the boards. I am sure that a lot of us would appreciate story recomendation in either trade paper back form or the Progs the story appears in.
And how about some character history for our new whos, who site...???
I just Picked up my first issues of Judge Dredd and 2000AD [im really bored so thought, sod it give them a go].
Got to day I really enjoy it. The art in ABC and Button Man are awesome [possible better than alot of the rest of the stuff I read] I recognise Irving from Iron Man. And the stories seem at a good pace, I was worried you wouldnt get enough per issue, but it seems to work well enough.
Reading Dredd I really enjoy the fact that there are full nrew articles between the stories, I liked the comandos article getting me really hiped for monday evening. And there was a 6 page story on Garth Ennis, love it.
I like the way there is so much to read, i really feel there is value for money here. But comparing this with any american weekly is stupid, theyre just too different. I would seriously suggest it, im looking forwards to the next issue.
