Well... considering Dan Slott writes both Avengers: Initiative and, soon, Amazing Spider-Man... I would say a showdown is inevitable - and it's not going to matter which one of the two it takes place in.
Ah, didn't know that. Guess it could be on the cards then. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't make it that far. Initiative has a very big cast right now and if I had to draw a list of who was most likely to bite it before the end of this arc then the spiders would be about second. _________________ Blog archive 2006
Here's an interview with Dan Slott about Avengers: Initiative...

NRAMA: Okay – something you do have coming up is the last pre-One More Day appearance by Peter Parker in issue #7. How does that work? Komodo and Rhodey already ran into Peter, and he spanked them and sent them packing…
DS: Well – I will say that issue #7 will feature the first time the Scarlet Spiders go into action in the public eye. This does not make Peter Parker very…well, you’re going to have to read it. In the story he’s doing stuff, and it’s pretty darn important. The way I was telling people about it is this: One More day is going to shake up Spider-Man’s world. There’s no way around it. What happens in One More Day is jaw-dropping. It’s huge. When it’s over, you’re going to want to have your copy of Avengers: The Initiative #7 tucked away that you can come back to. You’re just gonna want it – when you start arguing with people on the internet, you’re going to want your copy just so you can say, “Aha – but in Avengers: The Initiative #7….!” Study it, memorize it. You’re going to want it in your arsenal when you start arguing with everybody. Truuuuuust me.
I can easily read one thing into this, Buy My Comic[s].
I would have thougth from what I can tell of one more day and after that I would have thought that Spidey would be sticking to his own book for a while, no silly cameos. I guess the whole spidey event is going to set a new status quo and hopefully one he sticks in his own comic in.
But having said that I guess if he is writing the next day stuff then maby he will allow the character to feel right outside his own comic.
On a side note is the initiative comic actullay quite good then??? You all seem to know whats going on in it so im assuming your reading it. I am interested in the mutant zero thing so am I missing something else as well. _________________ Itchy... Tasty
Its not been too bad, its had some stupid bits and some of the characters are annoying but its better than Spectacular Spider-Man _________________ Pro Massacre Boy!
It's the best team book on sale at the moment that doesn't have the word 'Thunder' in the title. You will need to pick up the back issues though because the cast is huge and there's a lot going on. _________________ Blog archive 2006
I disagree i think the best comic on the market right now is New avengers even after the last rather poor issue.
Oh and who was right, yeah that was me, i rock. spiderman vs the scarlet spider 2 roughly a decade later(i think).
we all know all marvel roads lead to spidey, thunderbolts will have the enevitable show down with spidey sending mr osborn over the edge. Super hero registration is gonna have to get people like spidey or fail, new avengers fight scenes relyon spidey's one liners. He'll even be responsible for the re-birth of phoenix and Cap.....captian grey....shudder. _________________ Ninjarific
New Avengers is the best team book out there right now. I've not read the last issue yet, although, having flicked through, the first thing that caught my attention is the lack of continuity between New & Mighty...
As for Avengers: Initiative... I have to give it a tentative thumbs-up. I thought the first issue was excellent, the second issue was piss-poor (a sub-standard Hank Pym story was not needed) and the third was quite good. I've not read the WWH tie-ins yet... but they look good.
I think either the seventh or eighth issue has been highlighted as a good jumping-on point for new readers but the sixth (not a WWH tie-in) is probably as good as any. That, or wait for the inevitable TPB. It is definitely worth reading but it isn't yet at the status it's Mighty & New brethren currently hold. _________________ With Great Power, Comes Great... the WWH bit has sucked major balls. in my humble opinion. its is feeling a bit like the original x-men, lots of kids given powers they can't control so they are being trained at a school.
