With Marvel's 2006 summer event just finished (ahem, in February) the anticipation for the next one already starts. Here's some sneaky peeks.

Hulk returns to Earth. Hulk smash!

I think that sums up what WW Hulk is going to be. Smile

Maybe John Romita Jr spent a bit too long drawing Spider-Man.

I know he is a big character and all, but is his return really worthy of an entire corossover, or are marvel just making sure there is a big one every year now to try and get people involved.

What better way to boost comic sales than by having a yearly crossover.

In the TV series I don't think that Hulk ever did anything but growl.

To the best of my knowledge, in the comics the Hulk's intelligence has been variable over the years. He's usually been credited with at least enough intelligence to string sentences together, although he won't be winning any Booker prizes soon.

From a storytelling point of view, I don't think Hulk could have lasted if he was a totally mindless character who couldn't say anything other than "Grrrrrrrrrrrrr".

Yeah, I'm not all that confortable with him refering to himself in the first person.

Other than that it looks like a lot of fun. The only two pitfalls I can see for the story are a) forgetting that it's a tale that starts with the words "You shot me into space!" and trying to be too clever with it and b) mentioning the Illuminati too much because there are story elements there which will just cause a headache if they escape from their own mad comic.

During the Onslaught Saga, Hulk had the mind of Banner so he could be strong but intelligent at the same time. Phoenix had to turn Banner off so Hulk could destroy Onslaught.

I wasn't going to bother with this. Now that I've read that preview though... I'm not so sure...

If I don't buy the series, I'll definitely buy it in TPB.
