I think it does make sense for the squid ending to be replaced for a motion picture.
We have to remember that Watchmen is a very serious film and, while it may work for the comic, it may not necessarily translate too well to film.
I remember how Hollywood handled Galactus in FF2. They hinted that there was a giant being living within the planet-eating cloud and that was as far as they needed to go. Had they actually gone that extra mile and shown Galactus, I think the entire cinema would erupt into laughs at the sight of a giant man in huge purple leather. Same scenario with the giant squid.
I heard this aswell. Its more bringing it up to date with the rest of the world. I imagine it will be a giant robot or a bomb or something as easily replacable within the plot boundaries. Not something to get fanboy up in arms about. _________________ Ninjarific
First trailer I've seen, and it looks amazing, truly amazing.
I think the squid thing should probably be changed, but it shouldn't be a bomb or anything, as it still needs to be supernatural and psycick. _________________ Itchy... Tasty
While the Watchmen is being hotly disputed the March release could be in jeopardy, read on http://www.whatevercomics.com/#/watchmendispute/4532539142

It has now been settled. Warner Bros will be paying Fox a large undisclosed amount for the rights and a percentage of the Box Office takings. Which means the march release is going ahead. _________________ Pro Massacre Boy!
