Has anyone noticed how similar the current story line in Heroes is in essence to the Marvel Heroes Civil War?
Well it hasn't escaped my notice, Season Four begins with Nathan Petrelli telling the president about the existence of individuals who possess superhuman abilities. The president authorizes Nathan to capture heroes, and the majority of the main characters are rounded up, with the exception of Sylar, who escapes Nathan's agents while attempting to locate his biological father, in this weeks episode he even refers to the rounding up and incarceration of super powers as an initiative.
Sound familiar? It chilled me to the bone
And while cries of "But you are one of us Nathan" fall on deaf ears, the Heroes become Fugitives and that means Villains, walking WMD'S (well Sylar is the real deal in that department)
So if Nathan if Tony Stark, Whose Steve Rogers? oh that's right hes dead isn't he, could brother peter fill the roll and thus create a kind of Civil War, brother against brother?
either which way, we see strong political references in the show, much like we did in the Marvel Civil War,
So whose side are you on, the Heroes, or the duly elected president who has given the power to individuals to enforce the arrest and incarceration of these individuals? _________________
Nathan has really gone off the rails so far in season three and this just proves it. In a while it isn't natural character progression as it feels quite jarring. The Civil War comparisons are spots on and I'd say that Peter is more like Steve Rogers than anyone else. What makes it worse in the Heroes universe than the Marvel is that the heroes aren't given any opportunity to come and join Nathans side, and that as Heroes it generally more realistic than Marvel (comparatively speaking) it's that much more harrowing. _________________ Pro Massacre Boy!
What was rather more nonsensical than normal about the current storyline is how Nathan portrays the others with abilities as really dangerous, when at the outset they're all shown getting on with quiet, normal lives.
It's only after SWAT teams break into their houses, shoot them with tranquilliser darts and make them wear orange boiler suits that people start getting hurt, killed and planes fall out of the sky...
Still did cheer when Sylar was kicking the butts of the team that had come after him. _________________

Who else thinks there there seems to be more to the head of the swat team than meets the eye as well?
My guess is he once had powers and lost them somehow - or a superhuman killed someone close to him, something like that.
I think he suspects Nathan as well. I mean, even if he hadn't had the "how did you get here so quickly" thing then the fact that his brother and daughter are both powered would lead you to wonder.
I wonder what has happened to Molly, who just dropped out of sight somewhere. _________________
Well thanks for the great response,
it seem that for once i seem to have touched on a nerve, it is such a shame that this show seems to be going for this kind of blatant idea stealing because up until this season it has shown what can be achieved with superpowers in a real world scenario,
no costumes, no team ups, no this is a job for and will you pass the bright red phone, just ordinary people with extraordinary lives just trying to make sense of the weird shit happening to them.
I wonder if this was a conscious effort on the part of the writers to steer it in that direction, maybe they had run out of steam and someone said, hey lets turn them into villains, and someone else said how? and the other guy scratched his Ear LOEB and said, well as it happens....
am i making any sense?

Not something i had latched onto but a valid point.

Yeah that may be a bit of a giveaway, that and the "But Nathan, you are one of us" remarks.

A most excellent point, and one i wish i had brought to the table _________________
So far the round up operation seems to be only in the USA.
Probably because I've been thinking about Watchmen as well it occured to me that from a governement point of view this would be a really stupid thing to do:
You know that super-powered people exist - some of them with terrifying abilities.
These people are showing up all around the world.
You round up and imprison (and possibly kill) all of yours.
This leaves you open to at least two main threats:
1) Superpowered rebels
2) Other countries "weaponising / constripting" (willingly or not) superhumans into their military.
It would be nice to see this explored a bit.
I am also wondering about the identity of REBEL. Any guesses? Maybe it is a totally new character.
Also liking what is being done with Sylar this series after I got sick him by the end of the last one. _________________
i think Rebel is either Wireless (though I think the comic wrote her out) or Nikki's son (Can't remember his name). Both have powers that access technology in the way that they would need to be able to. However it does appear that Rebel also have precognitive powers as he/she got the fax to Hiro and Ando before they arrived in India. _________________ Pro Massacre Boy!
