I'm speculating here, and quite wildly too, but, y'know, I'm feeling very confident right now and would even be willing to lay down a Two Pint bet with someone (first come, first served; nothing for second).

Here's a line from Axel Alonso in a recent interview on Newsarama:

Black Panther and Storm are going to find a new home…and their family will grow.

This could mean that Black Panther and Storm are going to settle down and have children...

...but I don't think so! Shocked

It's fairly clear that, once Civil War has ended, there will no longer be a Fantastic Four as we know them. Indeed, several months ago, Wizard asked some speculatory questions to the fans (and they knew the answers) about Civil War. One of them asked what two new members would be joining the Fantastic Four? The options varied from Silver Surfer & Galactus to Hawkeye & She-Hulk to ... Black Panther & Storm.

The line mentions that they find a new home. Could be the Baxter Building.

The line mentions that their family grows. Could be they inherit Sue & Johhny Storm as family...?

Whaddaya think?

...just waiting for CapO to disagree now..

I hope not. I was kinda hoping for them to fade into the background after the world tour story's done. I've never found Storm to be that interesting a character and Panther just doesn't work when placed alongside other heroes. His story is about a king defending his people, not about a badass guy in a cat suit beating up cosmic thugs.

I want the new 4 book to still be about the original 4, but told through parralel stories to show how they cope without each other. In all honesty, I don't see them staying apart for long. I don't think Marvel has the balls to kill the team for more than a year or so.

Y'know, I really wish Marvel had the guts to cancel Fantastic Four; maybe only for a year to eighteen months and allow the characters to grow outside of the Fantastic Four:

Reed Richards could find himself working for SHIELD and the US Government on various top secret developmental projects. He and Sue are separated and he no longer sees his family despite the fact he secretly yearns for and to be with them.

Sue Richards has retired and is living in suburbia, raising Franklin and Valeria as a single mother. They've all adopted new identities; as far as the world is concerned - Sue Richards is dead. In the meantime, and unbeknownst to them, Sue and her family are under constant surveillance from Reed...

Johnny Storm has joined Captain America and his New Avengers. He's becoming increasingly aggressive with the use of his powers and has even suggested killing their enemies. Johnny has suffered the most since the FF break-up; life, as he knew it, has ended. No more partying, no more girls and no family to fall back on. He's alone in a team of super heroes.

Ben Grimm is still in exile. No one knows what has become of him...

This would then lead us into the relaunch and the opening story arc: 'World Without A Fantastic Four'. Obviously, the FF would eventually reunite but the reasons for them to be together would be drastically different than before.

If Joe Quesada's reading (or anyone from Marvel), this idea is only for sale if I write it! Very Happy

Heh...
but in all honesty that some heavy S**T you are laying down there wonder boy. some very interesting points too,
but how can there be a Fantastic Four without the Fantastic (Founders of the Marvel Universe) Four, the mind Boggles. but then how can the rift within the group be reconciled, my guess is that they cant, not yet anyway, a civil war tends to cut very deep and it can be years (in the real world) for people, even partners to forgive. we will see, we will see.

That's true; the rift between Reed and Sue has never been this wide before. There's no easy reconciliation here, just as there wouldn't be if this were a real marriage.

I really like that idea. 52 and Frontline have given me a real taste for books with multiple character stories.

From a business standpoint you need them back together in time for the film and you need them to have solved their differences and be doing a fairly simple story that people with no idea of continuity can jump onto.

Thats a very good point, when is the next FF film scheduled? but its such a shame that the comics has to be ruled by Hollywood and dollar share. Buy Hey, It pays the rent.

And it makes people pick up comics for the first time, which is good for everyone. June's enough time to do a break up and reformation story so long as the release scheduel is tight.

I'd guess we'll see Silver Surfer over in Ultimate Fantastic Four rather than the 616 one. I just think 616 FF will be too busy being a different team to the one we're used to.
