Just to add my thanks to Andy's ... it certainly makes a difference when an award is given based upon the feedback, and votes, of people who actually read comics. This is a great little forum, which I dip into every now and then (when I'm not planning the Accent UK takeover of Image ), and whilst I sometimes disagree with some comments made I always understand where they are coming from as they are always well researched and presented ... and that's what opinions are all about ... they are not necessarily to be agreed with but they must be understood if they are to be considered ... in this case of course I strongly agree .. Wolfmen is a great little book ) I struck lucky pairing up with Andy on the comic ... as it evolved I believed in it more and more ... Thanks again to all who bought it and voted for it ... and thanks to Whatever Comics for all the support ..

... probably the only comic award we'll ever win but who cares!
I doubt it mate, i very much doubt it
But when i read down this list of winners i kind of feel that the Whatever Comics readership show real taste, apart from the Paul Cornell vote, and that's only because i am not reading his stuff at the moment the list of winners looks really solid.
Thank you everyone for taking part, when i have a minute i will report this on the whatevercomics.com site.
a bloody HUGE thank you to the Boy Wonder for taking the time to organise it. thanks buddy
Oh' and Iron Man and Dark Knight Neck and Neck, wow! (no one else got a look in) but i concede, Iron man was the better film by a long shot _________________
See ... I really enjoyed Iron Man and Dark Knight ... Iron Man was an instant hit .. Dark Knight overwhelmed me on first viewing ... on second viewings ... Iron Man was still great .. but Dark Knight blew me away ... my vote had to be for Dark Knight ... sorry if I'm crossing Forum threads here ...

Thank you. I always enjoy working on the Whatever Comics Awards and I'm already looking forward to next year's. I just wish I'd been a little faster with this year's awards; preparing for a wedding really took all my time away.
Now that I'm married... yes, dear...? what's that...? no, that wasn't me... much... no, I didn't clean up, that's your job... feed Eliot...? didn't you do that before...? what do you mean, share the work... ah, hell!

They're two very different super hero films. I prefer one to the other (The Dark Knight) but I appreciate them both for completely different reasons beyond just admiring their respect to the source material. Had any other film won this award (i.e. The Incredible Hulk), we'd have to open an awards inquest! _________________ With Great Power, Comes Great... Potential to ROB BANKS!!! HAHAH! THAT'S HOW TO BEAT THE RECESSION!!!
Overall I think Iron Man was the better film although Dark Knight had a couple of stand out performances - Heath Ledger, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine (and with the Joker probably one of the most enjoyable performances of the year).
So how could that be?
Personally I think it's to do with Batman himself being too "big", that is too archetypal / epic to work well on a screen when reduced to being a specific actor rather than an idea whereas Tony Stark is still a man. When it's a comic the reader is much more complicit in the creation.
Still - that's a massive topic to get into here, so I won't.
But I was one of the ones who nominated and voted for Iron Man. _________________
