I agree David Tennant will be hard act to follow, given he's the most popular Doctor since Tom Baker. I quite like the new look and think Stephen Moffat will do an excellent job as new showrunner.
Loads of photos from the first day of filming have been taken:
It does look a bit different doesn't it. Still feel it is a shame Tennant is moving on. I say we kidnap him and force him to commit to a further 25 seasons. _________________ Pro Massacre Boy!
I agree that I would liked to have seen David Tennant carry on for at least one season under Moffat as showrunner. However, having done the role for about four years on what seems to be a fairly demanding filming schedule, I can understand why (as an actor) he would want to move on. I suppose the departure of RTD as showrunner also makes in a natural stepping down point for the lead actor.
I have to admit that am looking forward to season five more than the remaining three specials ... _________________
Primarily, the number of new elements that are being brought to the show - new creative team, new Doctor, new companion. It also seems that there's been tweaks to the Tardis exterior and the sonic screwdriver. There are rumours of a new Tardis interior. I can't help thinking the theme tune will be reworked and there will be a new title sequence.
I'm just really looking forward to seeing the shape of things to come. After all, that's why the Doctor travels - to see new things.
I am very much looking forward the remaining specials - The Waters of Mars looks atmospheric and creepy, and I'm sure that RTD will give the Tenth Doctor a suitably heroic send off. From some of the spoilery pictures I've seen on the web from those stories, I'm keen to see how those elements are worked in.
