x-files to return?

I'm not sure how I feel about this

But I have a tangible sense of excitement!
Guest

Could be good.

Hope so.

Speaking of hope - it now lives on for Batmanuel....

He now might get to see Scully naked!!! A dream he has had for years!
Robin The Boy Wonder

I'll believe it when I see it. This isn't the first time that David Duchovny has suddenly attached his name to an X-Files project since the series ended (in fact, I think this may be the third...).

As for seeing Gillian Anderson naked... she is getting on a bit now, isn't she? When I've seen her more recently on my TV, she's been looking increasingly drawn and haggard rather than curvaceous and shaggable.
Reaper

They're both signed to do the film and they're aiming to have it all filmed before summer 2008 to avoid some strike action that is happening in Yankee land.

Gillian Anderson has done a couple of nude scenes. SHe was a film called the Turning where she got them out and I'm told she did in a music video some years back.
The Rascal King

Replace the words "I'm told" with "I have them saved on my Hard Drive" to read Reapers actual post.

See as a horny teenage boy i bought the Turning.

And if by "gets them out" you mean removes clothes then tecnically yes she does. However she may as well stay fully clothed for all that you see.

Now that was a dissapointing afternoon!!!!!

As for the misic video, never seen it. Doubt that much happens in it though.
Robin The Boy Wonder

What music video? Very Happy

And I'll still believe it when I see it. And the film. Razz

I was really hoping that they werent releasing this till december 23rd 2012 [if thats the date]. That i thought would be a good idea, but maby this will be a filler so that people don't go off the idea all together, and i guess there is nearly a new genreation of geeks out there to get hooked i guess, man that makes me feel old. that and over 21 bars.
Batmanuel

You know what, i miss the x-files, when it was at its best, it was a great show, and the whloe family would look forward to the next episode.
The Rascal King

December 23 2012 is the end of the world, Mayan Style, yes.
waffle

We recently finished The Sopranos boxsets and went back to the x-files. gonna watch them all from season one til the bitter end. half way through season 4 now.

what they need to do, is release a DVD boxset consisting solely of episodes that are relevant to the x-files mythology. That way people can catch-up prior to the film, but not have to sit through all the Monster Of The Week episodes.
Reaper

They did that, not sure if they appeared over here but in the US they had different story based boxsets.

The problem is after about season 7 there is bugger all point watching the X-File because it gets naff and need to be cut off there and then.
waffle

did they?

I know that back in the day they started to release the *important* episodes on video. It'd be nice to get one big DVD set of them altogether though. not that I need them mind, but it'd be cool.
Longshot

The thing with the just the story line box would be that you would miss probably most of the classic episodes, overall the story from the whole 9 series was amazing, but they will never make anything as good as squeez and toombes.

I still rate it right up to the end, i still liked daugot although the other woman was a bit rubbish.
Robin The Boy Wonder

Yeah, Doggett was a cool character - I really like how he juxtaposed Scully in Season 8 and the two worked extremely well together. Season 9 was forgettable and ended all too oddly (perhaps fitting).

If anything, I thought Season 7 was the bad one - it felt too much like all involved were just so far up their own backsides on how good the series had been up to that point that the only thing produced was a steaming fat turd. It was too pretentious - especially that episode Gillian Anderson directed. That was plain egotistical.

But... *sigh* I really want to re-watch The X-Files again... it's being shown on Living TV but every night?!? Come on! Put it On Demand and I'm there! Very Happy

I was fortunate in the fact that while i was laid up and had nothing to do, my daughter loaned me the first five Sopranos boxsets, which i watched almost back to back, yeah its a good show, but i prefer the Shield.
waffle

the shield is amazing - but I just find the sopranos to be more layered with far stronger characterisation.

good news though! Shield season 3 is out on DVD in this country in June. hurrah!

I also thoroughly recommend The Wire - tis very, very good.

The Unit is not too shabby either.
Robin The Boy Wonder

I've never watched The Shield... although isn't that a US cop show whose lead actor is a cross between Grant Mitchell and ...well... Batmanuel...?

Or am I thinking of something else?
waffle

sort of. he's a crooked cop, but only when people deserve it. he's just such an awesome badass character. really, really brilliant show.

Well i dont know if i should take this as an insult or a compliment, but i have been called worse so for now i will take it as a compliment.... i think?

But really if you have not seen it go buy it, its a very very good show.
Robin The Boy Wonder

Next time you want another compliment, at least you know who to go to! Razz

I can dish 'em out more often than your lovely wife!
Reaper

The dvd for X-Files of all the important bits was an American release only, check it out on playusa.com

As it happens there is a resemblance to Batmanuel Smile

Batmanuel

And for those of you who have been unfortuate NOT to have ever seen The Shield, the Hallmark channel is repeating season 1 on sunday nights.
Catch it if you can Smile
Reaper

For those interested, according to David Duchovny there is actually a script written and he will be viewing it next week Very Happy

Just wondering if there was going to be any new news soon, thats cool, i really hope this is as good as it should be.
norsefire1

just found out that the new x files movie starts to shoot in dec.
Guest

Cool ( I really, really hope it is any way!)
Xeall

............anyone watch the last season? no? thats why the x-files whould remain buried. Any plot today would involve the alien actually being osma bin laden and arabs planning to take over a hick town so they can do crazy non american things.

if you hadn't guessed i'm to be convinced
Longshot

I really liked the last season, I only got into the show about season 6 so that was the norm for me. I liked Daugot, and I know thats sagralidge. I liked the fact they were keeping the theme but doing something a bit fresher, a show cant run for that long without change. I loved the 'final episodes' the way the finished off the characters and stuff, it was great.
Reaper

I@m with Xeall, X-Files was good uptil the end of season 6.... and thats stretching it. After that you may as well ignore it and sadly the new film is more than likely to be of the same quality. Realistically as much as I enjoyed the first film, that wasn't an amazingly good film.
Reaper

Film start date has been confirmed as 10th December Very Happy
Robin The Boy Wonder

I'm very wary about this news...

It's hard to do the sequel when the series ended five years ago and the first film dates back a full decade. The series has its fans (I'm one of them) and they will likely flock to the cinema to see it (as will I) but I'm not sure if there's a real need for an X-Files movie anymore.

I kinda wonder if, perhaps, The X-Files should be left well enough alone now and that any film is only going to be a disappointment for its fans.

As for the series, I felt the first five seasons (and then the movie) were excellent. After that, the next two felt very anti-climactic with the seventh season lost somewhere amongst the egos of its two main stars (I still shudder at the thought of the episode Gillian Anderson directed).

I enjoyed the eight series (I loved Doggett - he was a real breath of fresh air that the series needed, no matter what anyone says) but the ninth series felt rather aimless. The last episodes were horrible, like a rabid dog that you once loved come home again after time away. There was nothing clever about the twist with the Cigarette Smoking Man at the end and the way Doggett just disappeared in a helicopter with twenty minutes remaining was just piss-poor.
Reaper

*agrees solidly*
Longshot

same here, kinda like S8 a bit more tho

But I think theyre trying to bridge the gap between S8 and whatever will happen in 2012.
norsefire1

i think the time span is what the film needs to be any good, that way it can stand alone as a film within in its self.
Reaper

I think thats a problem its going to have, people want more of the X-Files mythology because it was never really finished properly, so if the film is going to stand on its own feet a lot of the audience will be a bit unhappy.

Fox have chosen a release date - 25th July 2008
