Whatever Comics goes to the cinema....

Right boys and girls heres the score...

Durring the evening next week, Canterbury cinema MIGHT be showing Ghost Rider.

IF it does and we can organise 20 people, how do you lot fancy a trip to the pictures?

we would have to have 20 people who will DEFINATLY be there - or at least buy a ticket to qualify for the discounted rate of £4.50.

So this is what I suggest. Speak to your friends. Come in to the shop durring the week and buy the tickets. THESE WILL NOT BE REFUNDABLE UNLESS a) we dont sell 20 tickets or b) the cinema doesnt show the film in the end! Being ill/lost/drunk/busy etc will not entitle you to a refund.

I am going for Friday (16 March) evening at the moment which will be the first night.

This is the only way to do it this time round and I am sorry the info is not mre concrete, but its the best I can do.

On the other hand, the cinema will def be showing Spider-man from 4th May - but they are having previews before that - which i will try and get us in too....

More info as I get it - but whos up for it and how many people can you bring???
The Rascal King

Go on then, I'll be in. I'll speak to some of the guys in my classes, I know they were up for seeing Ghost Rider, but they're from Chatham so I don't know if they'll be in. Other than that, I think Coop, (that little Northerner who comes in in a baseball cap and tracky top, or hocky jersy) may want to come.

Do you also want to see what you can do about 300?
Guest

Sorry - night will have to be Friday (I am changing original post) - if they get it and we should find that out tomorrow.

Working on 300, Transformers, Turtles etc as we speak.

Apaarently the Spiderman preview will be on 3rd of May (a thursday) so I suggest we go for that as well..... whos is in?
The Rascal King

Totally down for Spiderman.
I'd go in themed costume to all, but I don't look so good in a leather thong.
Guest

But the mask would suit you.....

Twisted Evil
The Rascal King

Which movie are we talking about? I was talking about 300, but I can totally pull of a Mask for TMNT.
Purple, of course.

My god do things change quickly when the ball starts rolling or what!!

Right, still no confirmation on wether or not Ghost Rider is on - but there have been develpoments.

Price will now be, for us, £5.50 per person REGARDLESS of how few people there are.

If over 20 book in advance - I might be able to get the original £4.50 price back as well. Basically they are doing the £5.50 aas a favor cos up till today they have told me they wont get GR at all and even now they are not sure!!

So if they get it tickets will be onsale from Tuesday in the shop priced at £5.50.
Robin The Boy Wonder

OK, I'm a no for Ghost Rider on Friday.

Before Rascal throws a hissy fit, I'll explain. Basically, on Wednesday, Ann's having a scan in a London hospital for a scan on the baby's heart. The scan we had last week was inconclusive. While everything looks OK, the two divs running the scan didn't really seem to know what they were doing and so referred us to Borstal Hospital in South Kensington. So, for the second year running, I'll be spending my birthday in a hospital. Until we get paid (20th), Ann and I have very little money between the two of us, so after our trip to London, we'll both be very skint. So, a trip to the cinema where money will be spent is out of the question.

Sure, I could've just said no but you guys do deserve an explanation of some kind so there we go...

Spider-Man is a tentative yes and is tentative because the baby is due around that time. I can only really tell you whether or not I'm coming on or around the day itself.

Although I'm a yes for Transformers and a no for the Turtles (no interest). 300 is a maybe.
The Rascal King

Why would I throw a hissy? I am not a hissy throwing person, am I?
Black Phoenix

ooops i should check this site more often - sorry chaps watched Ghost Rider yesterday at the Ashford Cinema. (won't tell you my opinions of it though, you can all make your own minds up.)
Reaper

Hmmm I'm not sure on this one, I can't really afford it Sad Money has gone up the creek and all the bills are coming on. I'll keep you guys informed. Some of the later ones like Transformers, I could be up for.
The Rascal King

I'm a bit iffy as to wether I can afford this. My fucking housemate has just told me that the soonest he can get me the £75 he owes me, is the END OF THE F****NG MONTH.
Sorry for swearing, but this shit is beginning to piss me off.
Azadhar

I am 100% in for spider man

Well, you did react when I turned down the last arranged meet-up. But, if I've caused any offence, bud, none was meant and I'm sorry for that so I'll take it back. Hissy-fitting is more within the realms of those members who believe themselves to Opinionated Captains... Very Happy

No need to apologise. I think we all know how you're feeling here and I hate it when people owe me cash and then move the goal posts on me. So I've quoted it. Smile

Just don't do it again. Or I'll be forced to spank you. Shocked

One thing that is bugging me though... your local cinema is an Odeon, isn't it? Odeon tend to know well in advance if a film is gonna be showing or not at their multiplex so they should already know by now if Ghost Rider is gonna show.
Guest

Yes and I have just edited both posts.

No F ing - otherwise i will have to set up the automatic swear word editor thingy - and I would f ing hate to have to do that!!!

As for the Odeon....

Yes you would think they would know what films they are going to be showing and with the huge, almost guarenteed, blockbusters they do, hense Spidey 3.

However, with the smaller films, like Ghost Rider, they will wait and see how it goes before makeing a desicion. Which is also why I am having so much trouble getting a straight answer for Transformers and 300 etc.
Robin The Boy Wonder

Ah, CapO is no fun. Although we must remember he is the forum's God right now... until we depose him. Iron Man never loses!!!

Transformers will be a bona fide smash hit irregardless of the fan base. Your Odeon probably has made a decision on it by now - they're just not telling.

300 has grossed $70 million in its opening weekend so Odeon will definitely be showing it.

As for your Ghost Rider, I still don't believe a word of it. The larger Odeon multiplexes will carry it certainly but, as a release, it was large enough to warrant an opening at the smaller ones, even if only for a week. Dude, I really do think your local Odeon may be feeding you a line here. If they haven't shown it yet, I very much doubt they'll show it now. I may be wrong though (and I would love to be proved wrong here).

How many screens does your cinema have...?
Guest

The local cinema has two screens.

It is tiny and old.

The decissions on which film to show are made purley by the booking office - not the local staff. Although they can and will argue for a film if they think it is worth it.

Hense why it is currently showing Norbitt.....

Ghost Rider hase so far grossed $150 million so if that was a factor it would definatly be on. But they base it on what they think it will make after they have read reviews!

If they have made their minds up on Transformers, the answer will be... NO!!!

And thats because it opens on the same weekend as Simpsons the Movie and they WILL be showing that!

As for 300... well plenty of good and popular films have not made it on to the screens at Cnaterbury.... whats one more!?!?!

Also you have to bear in mind that tin Canterbury the Catherdral carries a lot of political weight and so if they decide that a film is not to their liking.....
The Rascal King

Wait, they're NOT showing Transformers?
OK, now I'm going to throw a hissy.
Robin The Boy Wonder

No Transformers = I Predict A Riot
waffle

No Ghost Rider at the Odeon this week, for definite says my source.
The Rascal King

Predict? I can ENSURE a riot.
(And I can do it without making a lame pop bad refference as well Razz )
Robin The Boy Wonder

Having checked out their website, I can confirm there is no Ghost Rider at all this weekend. Seems that they're devoting more time to Norbit and Becoming Jane - both films that Ann would happily watch.

And Odeon will show Transformers - I'm sure they have The Touch. Wink
The Rascal King

I just hope they can Light my Darkest Hour.
Robin The Boy Wonder

It's all gonna be Beryllium Baloney! Razz
The Rascal King

Selenium salami.
Robin The Boy Wonder

Holy Sh!t! What're we gonna do now?
myincubliss

whut? sort out some sort of 300 and spiderman trip, and count me and nicole in (see, even a handy hint as to who i am. how sweet am i to you?), and most likely ren too.
Robin The Boy Wonder

Welcome to the boards! Cool

I think Spider-Man is a dead cert for the Canterbury cinema and 300 should be but, as I'm not native to Canterbury, I tend to leave the arranging part to those who are.
The Rascal King

I hate all this sodding Code-Name bollocks. We're not the freakin' X Men. Go to the Introduction Page AND TELL ME WHO YOU ARE Mad
Robin The Boy Wonder

My real name is Optimus.

Razz
The Rascal King

I just got possibly the oddest mental image:

"My name is Optuimus Desamus Arillius Prime. Commander of the armys of the North of Cybertron. Servant of the Allspark. Houser of the Matrix. Leader of the Autobots."

I'm sure you can finish it off.
Very Happy
Robin The Boy Wonder

You've just given me the greatest idea for naming my baby! Very Happy
Reaper

Ahhhh nuts I forgot to do a signature thing for you Robin Neutral
Robin The Boy Wonder

Hey, don't worry about it Reaper. You offered and I appreciate that.

Although... when are you gonna re-PM me?!? I don't wanna go crazy on yo' ass, y'know! Twisted Evil

...reads above... Shocked
Reaper

Yeah I will do, took me a while to write it out last time and just trying to get round to doing it again. I'll do it tonight when i'm finished with work.
Robin The Boy Wonder

Thanks mate! Very Happy
