To Let

Its been a little less than Six Months since we opened in our new location. so what the hell has that got to do with the term To Let?
Well a strange sign has appeared above another shop not a million miles away, and it says ....

To Let Smile

GAME OVER Laughing

PS: Not that i would gloat or anything, its always sad to see a fellow retailer have to close, but in this case i will make an exception Wink

What with this, and Stark getting it, its a Merry Fucking Christmas to Me Laughing
God

Damn, are they really closing/closed?

I wonder if he'll do a ridiculously cheap sale on stuff?  Laughing
Web of Fear

Maybe it's a location move, or possibly a shift to online only sales.

One word......  Good!

I just called the store with the view to running a story, and Dave categorically denied that they are closing, but admitted that they are moving.

His words: "I can't say anything. I'm going to have to say no comment on this. I don't want to jinx things, but call again in the middle of January."

Curiouser and curiouser....

Ooooh, it's become a "who can get a store in the best location" competition!

Sounds fun.

In a way, this could be perceived as a potentially sad event; after all, this may herald the closure of another comic book store in the UK.

However, this could also mean they're moving location (wise move considering the formidable competition) or closing the store to focus entirely on an online market (an interesting, and potentially very risky, strategy - although, understandable considering the formidable competition).

I know very little about Canterbury's Incomplete store; however, I remember when they opened in Maidstone (long before Whatever crashed their party). It all started out so well for them; they must have achieved some success as, a couple of year after they first opened in Starnes Court, they moved premises to a far larger shop.

After that, things went downhill from there. Whatever opened up and things began to change. I never really used to frequent either shop back then and I wasn't buying comics on a weekly basis either; however, the last time I walked into Incomplete, the guy behind the counter was more intent on scratching his hairy balls (yes, they were hairy) and making snide comments about the customers than he was actually selling comics.

In the meantime, Whatever was quite an inviting shop, their prices were more competitive and they were far more interested in selling - and talking - comics. After that, I had a standing order with Whatever... and Incomplete closed.

I wonder if their customer service actually changed; after all, I get the impression Whatever is benefiting from something related to Incomplete, after all. And why not? Appreciate and serve your customers. It goes a long way, far longer than scratching the flakes off your testicles, at least!

EDIT - I've just noticed how the website changes the In-Cog-Nito to Incomplete... very funny, bats; very funny!

I'm still shocked you can't say the word that begins in an e and ends in bay without it being censored...

I barely remember the Maidstone store, I was far younger and poorer then and before I had money of my own I rarely got money from parents for stuff because my father was a child-abandoning, tight-fisted *insert dirty word here* and my mother could barely afford to keep a house over our heads. Still I remember walking past the store quite a bit, and I believe I frequented that one before the Maidstone version of Whatever.

The Canterbury version of 'Nito was my first actual proper grown up comics store as before I started Uni in Canterbury I didn't even know where Whatever was, all tucked out of the way, and just stumbled across it when walking to Uni with a friend of mine and going through the town centre and down passed the store. I have, however, found that while it's easier to find newer stuff in 'Nito with their massive shelf, it's next to impossible to find anything else because they have Beany Babies and god knows what on top of the, you know, COMICS. I never understood that logic...

Now the only time I ever go in there is if I really, REALLY want something that Whatever don't have, and most the time 'Nito don't have it either. Although I didn't look for my missing Iron Man's in there...

My only major reason for responding to this however is to ask: why were you looking at his balls?  Confused

I had an entire post to reply to but this is the one that caught my eye:

You just couldn't miss them.

Seriously.

In comparison, the worst thing I've ever seen Manny do is fall asleep behind the counter. Probably a good thing it was me too; I walked in on the off-chance (oh hell, a chance to talk shit) and found him slumbering behind the till! Ah well, at least he didn't wake up with an erection!!!
CatFang

That you know of  Very Happy

He was behind the counter after all!
Batmanuel

I vaguely remember something about an erection.... no its gone.

But is it to late (or is that To Let) that Incomplete Comics has now in fact...........GONE, only problem is, he didn't tell any of his customers, and when they arrived to pick up there standing orders, well guess who had to pick up the pieces, deja vu, Maidstone all over again,

Am i bitter, hell now, i drink beer i do Laughing
