The 199 -possible Initiative spoilers if you're a bit behindOk, so we now know that the 198 was in fact a lie and that 199 mutants retained their powers after M-Day. The 199th is codenamed Mutant Zero and has been kept secret by the military for use in the Shadow Initative (the secret 51st superteam which even Stark doesn't seem to know about). Dan Slott has said that the masked mutant is a well known character and that the reveal will be a big one and not an "Oh it's random Morlock number 3" or something like that.
So the million doller question is, who is Mutant Zero?
I'm thinking Jubilee since she'd be about the right size for the costume, it's Asian themed and Marvel have already said that she'll get her powers back at some point because she's already been revealed to be the last mutant in the far future.
Any other thoughts?

how about this for a theory (which everyone will groan to and shout let it go):
Its a mutant already about, but they are a skrull pretending to be this person and the one in the suit is real...no wait that just tarded.
Has marrow been seen in a while, or did she die? then again house of m brought enough people back...

Nope, marrow was just in X-factor, i think she was depowered, as was the blob, that was well depressing, he was just a flabby flabby guy.
I really cant think who it could be, they have more people in x-men teams at the moment than they ever have, and all the women i know about are accounted for, even Skids was just in Uncanny.

Earth-3M0
A CD, thrown so hard from another dimension, because the music was so god-awful, lands in the middle of downtown Manhatten.
Curious to see weather he can capitalise on it, Iorn Man inserts it into his suits CD-tray (you don't want to know where that is)
Before long, he is painting his suit black, the legs are far tighter than seems possible, and yet they are still worn around his thighs. A studded belt seemingly holds it in place.
Spider-Man has donned the black suit, and in his spare time, struts around, shooting looks at everyone, and crying into his LiveJournal.
The Sentry has cut and died his hair, spiking it at the back, with one long fringe covering his eye.
The Hulk is enraged that no one understands him.
Other heroes try to escape, but alas, the infection is too much.
Soon every hero has fallen prey to this new disease.
The last few remaning sane folk survive underground, listening to Ska, it having proven the only effective form of defence against the virus.
How much longer can they hold out, in a world full of skinny jeans and fringes?
Will they survive to see another Summer of Ska?

Danielle Moonstar, as i said above, are we looking for someone who is depowered then, cause it really could be her then. She has worked for S.H.I.E.L.D before and has been known to show her dark side.

Intresting thought i had and told batmanuel.
Scarlet witch?
|
kingmouse
|
It's possible. From issue 5 we know that her powers are unspecific (she can move fast and is good in combat) but they can only be activated sparingly. They also made a point that it would be dangerous to call her by her real name, so Wanda seems to be the top candidate. Afterall, someone has to kill Hawkeye again.
But even if we solve Mutant Zero then we still have to speculate on who the Scarlet Spider Squad are. From the way they finish each other's sentences I'm thinking rogue Maddox dupes. But a mate of mine suggested the idea that since the Iron Spider suite took records of Peter's dna they could have cloned him 3 times over leading to the return of Ben Riley. Now that would be cool.
|
Xeall
|
My thought about that is just that the suit allows them to react quickly. Another clone saga would have spiderfans up in arms. Ben reily is dead for a reason. Spidey is gonna whoop them all anyway.
|
The Rascal King
|
I was under the impression that they were just grunts in suits.
Xeall is right, another Clone nonsense would really piss people off. Though it would throw Peter an awful lot.
They could be Androids in the suit?
|
Xeall

hmm clutching at straws, next you'll be saying tony stark is just controlling 3 extra suits.
|

I was also under the impression they were just three grunts trained to use the suits.

Three grunts who have been feed Peter Parkers genetic material!!!
Or maybe, after Clor we get the three Spones!!!!
Also, how about yet another return for Jean Grey and the Pheonix force for our mysterious mutant?

| Quote: | | Or maybe, after Clor we get the three Spones!!!! |
I get what your saying....but WHAT?
its should just be 3 grunts, they really aren't worth keeping as main stay characters, we know they'll whoop peter, he'll come back ruin them and then it will all be over. All the initative avengers are poor versions of something he's owned before. Actually have spiderman and thor ever fought 1v1?

I doubt it - the return would likely be covered in the X-Men titles proper, wouldn't it...?
That, and the X-Editor would likely make it another massive event!
|
kingmouse
|
I doubt they'll meet their end with Spidey. Slott's running a tight ship on Initiative and I'd say it's likely that he's already got a fate planned out for the spiders that will take place involving his own characters rather than a cameo by Parker.
Besides, it's not like there isn't room for more than one Spider based hero in the Marvel U (regardless of how many of them Venom might eat )
|
Xeall
|
As was said in issue 5(?) the scarlet spiders are built to be replacements for spiderman. i do believe that they will have to get involved with spidey just to show how similair in strength and ability they are to him.
|
kingmouse
|
Well they tangled with him in issue 3 (i think) or at least took down the villains that he was targeting.
If they stick around as long term characters then perhaps they'll find their way into Spidy's book but I can see their story begining and ending within the pages of initiative.
|
Xeall
|
that they might doesn't mean mr parker isn't gonna tangle with the initaitive again. i.e in their comic

I would be surprised if there wasn't some big punch up between them, its almost guaranteed to happen in a showdown type of way.

The Rascal King

Still agree with Xeall on this one, Spidey will take them out, hands down.

He'd have to, he's the original and he does the moves instinctively not because he's been trained or programmed too.

Exactly. Even if Stark has programed in the Spider Sense, they don't have the years of experience to react instictivly to it like Peter does.

Well... considering Dan Slott writes both Avengers: Initiative and, soon, Amazing Spider-Man... I would say a showdown is inevitable - and it's not going to matter which one of the two it takes place in.

Ah, didn't know that. Guess it could be on the cards then. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't make it that far. Initiative has a very big cast right now and if I had to draw a list of who was most likely to bite it before the end of this arc then the spiders would be about second.

| Quote: | NRAMA: Okay – something you do have coming up is the last pre-One More Day appearance by Peter Parker in issue #7. How does that work? Komodo and Rhodey already ran into Peter, and he spanked them and sent them packing…
DS: Well – I will say that issue #7 will feature the first time the Scarlet Spiders go into action in the public eye. This does not make Peter Parker very…well, you’re going to have to read it. In the story he’s doing stuff, and it’s pretty darn important. The way I was telling people about it is this: One More day is going to shake up Spider-Man’s world. There’s no way around it. What happens in One More Day is jaw-dropping. It’s huge. When it’s over, you’re going to want to have your copy of Avengers: The Initiative #7 tucked away that you can come back to. You’re just gonna want it – when you start arguing with people on the internet, you’re going to want your copy just so you can say, “Aha – but in Avengers: The Initiative #7….!” Study it, memorize it. You’re going to want it in your arsenal when you start arguing with everybody. Truuuuuust me. |

I can easily read one thing into this, Buy My Comic[s].
I would have thougth from what I can tell of one more day and after that I would have thought that Spidey would be sticking to his own book for a while, no silly cameos. I guess the whole spidey event is going to set a new status quo and hopefully one he sticks in his own comic in.
But having said that I guess if he is writing the next day stuff then maby he will allow the character to feel right outside his own comic.
On a side note is the initiative comic actullay quite good then??? You all seem to know whats going on in it so im assuming your reading it. I am interested in the mutant zero thing so am I missing something else as well.

It's the best team book on sale at the moment that doesn't have the word 'Thunder' in the title. You will need to pick up the back issues though because the cast is huge and there's a lot going on.

I disagree i think the best comic on the market right now is New avengers even after the last rather poor issue.
Oh and who was right, yeah that was me, i rock. spiderman vs the scarlet spider 2 roughly a decade later(i think).
we all know all marvel roads lead to spidey, thunderbolts will have the enevitable show down with spidey sending mr osborn over the edge. Super hero registration is gonna have to get people like spidey or fail, new avengers fight scenes relyon spidey's one liners. He'll even be responsible for the re-birth of phoenix and Cap.....captian grey....shudder.
|
Robin The Boy Wonder

Yeah, I think I have to agree with Xeall ( ).
New Avengers is the best team book out there right now. I've not read the last issue yet, although, having flicked through, the first thing that caught my attention is the lack of continuity between New & Mighty...
As for Avengers: Initiative... I have to give it a tentative thumbs-up. I thought the first issue was excellent, the second issue was piss-poor (a sub-standard Hank Pym story was not needed) and the third was quite good. I've not read the WWH tie-ins yet... but they look good.
I think either the seventh or eighth issue has been highlighted as a good jumping-on point for new readers but the sixth (not a WWH tie-in) is probably as good as any. That, or wait for the inevitable TPB. It is definitely worth reading but it isn't yet at the status it's Mighty & New brethren currently hold.
|
Xeall
|
the WWH bit has sucked major balls. in my humble opinion. its is feeling a bit like the original x-men, lots of kids given powers they can't control so they are being trained at a school.
