SunShineSaw this on friday night and it was pretty good, the story goes.... Our sun is dying out so Earth launches a ship called the Icarus II to send in a huge nuclear warhead to restart the Sun. The film follows the crews reaction to things after having spent 16 months in deep space.
Its directed by the same guy who did 28 Days Later and he does a superb job on it overall. There are a few bits that seemed out of place but generally well worth the money. None of the actors/actresses do a bad job and play their parts fantastically. And the effects for the sun are really really good

I really want to see this, is it more of an action flick or more story driven, as from the premis there didnt look to be that much to it. but all danny boyle's films are amazing, i do believe that he started with shalow grave and trainspotting launching ewan mcgregor into stardom, now hes doing it with cylian murphy

It's a story driven thing though there are some actiony-ish bits in it.

Saw this yesterday.
It was pretty much what I was expecting, an of above-average intelligence sci-fi flick.
However, it all goes a bit dodgy towards the end, and turns into a standard 'spooky things in space' sort of film. Nonetheless - it's worth a watch.
Reaper - what did you think the end was all about? When Cillian Murphy is standing there in the payload.... you know that bit I mean (trying not to spoil it for others!)

Highlight to review... cunning!
I thought the part with Murphy standing there while the fire stopped was quite interesting and surreal, Sarah wasn't keen though my take on it was that time stopped in his mind, some say your life flashes past you when you're about to die and some say time slows down. So in that respect it worked for me. The whole spooky space thing was a let down though, they could have done without the commander from the ICarus one going Freddy on them, and I didn't understand why Murphy didn't tell the others that there was a fifth member on board?!
Otherwise the atmosphere for the more drama/thriller parts was pretty well done.

cunning indeed! same tactic employed here:
I thought that it was about time slowing down. however, a colleague thinks differently. he reckons that it's to do with the conversation they had earlier about how they weren't sure what to expect when they dropped the bomb, and that they really didn't know how the laws of physics would behave - as it happens, something completely unexpected occurred. He reckons that the bit where they were falling down the payload, and then suddenly found that they could stand-up is evidence of his breakdown of the laws of physics theory. Interesting - but I disagree.
and then it turns out that he was a ghost all along!

Ive only just heard of this film, watched a sort of making of last night on the tele, looks good, might have to get round to watching it, when I'm up and about,
also the guy who did Dead man's Shoes is bringing out a new film, cant remember what its called, but it should be worth the admission fee.

I saw this last night and thought it was pretty good. Now for my spoiler-tastic comments:
I thought it was a bit of a shame that it turned into a "Oh no, there's a scary monster on board" at the end, and there was a last minute dash to the payload, as the rest of the film tried to rise above the usual sci-fi cliches.
I also thought that the end (sort of) made sense, as it had been stated that time and space fused. Well apart from the fact that bomb should have melted.
But then he turned out to be his own father!

More covered words n stuff
While your collegues idea is a good one it doesn't explain why it would explode all around him and stop in that particular place... The only difference between everywhere else and that place was Murphys characters, so I still think it was that time slowing down during death thing. but hey it could be one of those interesting things in films that is never explained.
Again the scary nasty monster thing didn't fit with the rest of the film, seemed a weird thing to chuck in with the rest of the film. And I would assume the bomb woiuld have been designed to not melt so that it could explode, though realistically thats not likely to happen really
