When no one posted in it for about a year, none of us seem that interested in anything past a little bit of football.
But I'm assuming that someone must have deleted it, ad to this i'm looking at Bats
Batmanuel
That was me. the sports was deleted for a few reasons.
1. no one was posting
2 it was cap o that created this section against my express wishes to the contrary. he is no longer with us, and neither is the sports thread.
3. in a comic shop environment one should feel safe and sheltered from the kind of Moron who kicks a fucking ball about during the day and someones head in during the evening.
and finally, i am in the strong opinion that the larger majority of intelligent fantasy, comic book, sc-fi audience has very little or no interest on sports.
and before anyone launches an attack on me for saying this, i did say larger majority, not all.
Hope this answers the question

Pretty much what I thought, wondered how long it would take you to bin it
Robin The Boy Wonder
Speaking as someone who appreciates Sport (and a huge football fan - as important to me as comics) and the dedication that the vast majority of athletes give to their cause...
It's a shame the Sports section has left us, in my opinion.
Now I do understand why it's left us. There were few regular contributors to the section and, after CapO left, it dwindled to none. There's no use running a redundant section on a forum and, yes, most comic and fantasy fans aren't fans of sport. So the section doesn't necessarily appeal to the main audience.
So, I agree with Bats' decision - and shed a tear too. Ranting about Steve McClaren and promoting Big Sam were faves of mine.
All I ask is, if anyone wishes to start a Sports-related thread, please do so in the General Discussion section only - and don't let Bats post there! Exercise makes him go all a-flutter; he worries Debe may ask him to do the housework again!
Oh, and COME ON ARSENAL!!!

Pfffft Arsenal, watch a real Mans sport...... Basketball!
Robin The Boy Wonder
I used to play Basketball at school.
I was reasonably good at it... although... and I'm only going to say this quietly... I used to be really, really good at playing hockey...
Reaper
Ah Hockey, now there's a game where you can beat the crap out of people and not get sent off!
CatFang
A new fact about CatFang: I was all set to be a professional hockey player until I broke both my kneecaps playing without guards several days before national trials.
I was quite cross about that for quite a long time. Although to be fair both knee caps were already grinding away on my thigh bones due to uneven muscle development and I was strapping them in place with surgical tape every morning. Even now I can bend my knees backward quite a long way - which is very attractive!
Of course by now I would be too old to play and my career would be over, even allowing for not being injured out before then.
Still wield a pretty mean stick though

Wow thats really sad, really, if only we could use hindsight for real, those guards would have been placed and your life would have taken a different path.
But then we wouldn't have a Catfang to know and cherish
and whose to say they in an alternate reality that Cat isn't playing the game that you were playing then?
Still thats sucks big time and a heartfelt what a shame goes out to you. that must have been a very server injury.
Debe used to run, and was earmarked as a potential professional when she was young, she was already breaking records professionals had set when she was still at school, she was fast, and i mean fast. small world, you should get her talking about it next time you visit, you may find a common ground that you both never realised was there.
Me i fucking hate Running, Football, Rugby, tennis, and just about anything that involves me doing anything which makes me get out of breath, i didn't mind weight training when i was younger, and Karate which i did for a while.
the only thing i like which can in any way be compared to sport is, acually i cant tell you that

Yeah - I got talking about her running with her when we stayed over yours.
I think you were still in bed...or perhaps it was just that it was early enough Sunday morning that you were not back from your 10k daily run, with time to stop off at church on the way
Batmanuel
It was the stop off to the church that did it
which brings to mind something a friend of mine Mark said to me and Debe in the shop the other day.
it was, "when i read that you had moved i tried to picture where in St Peters St you were."
I thought surely they haven't taken the Christian Book Shop, (which is a few doors down from us)
I mean to say, he said, Manny would burst into flames the second he entered the premises.
with a smile that could only be described as, Ive got your number,
i conceded that he may just have a point.
Nice one Mark

When I lived in Canterbury I was once thrown out of the Christian Bookshop for wearing a mask of Hacksaw Jim Duggan I cut out from a WWE magazine and shouting "HOOOOOOOOO".
Well, I mean, it was his catchphrase.
It's just that now I can't for the life of me remember why I did it
