Silver Surfer

Despite the fact that the Silver Surfer is yet to make his movie debut, a fact that will be quickly rectified in the next 48 hours, it's been reported today in The Los Angeles Times that a Silver Surfer movie is in the works.

20th Century Fox have already begun developing the spin-off, with J. Michael Straczynski writing the screenplay. Unlike the PG rated FF2, it appears likely that Silver Surfer will go a more darker route.

And if you're wondering about the link, I wasn't about to sign up to the LA Times website just for you guys. You're just going to have to trust me on this one. Wink

Yes the Silver Surfer as he appeared in FF2 was far to good to be a one trick pony,
Bring on a Silver Surfer Movie.... ? Yes Please Smile

I think the ending to FF2 practically demands a Silver Surfer movie now, doesn't it...?

I had meant to paste something about the Silver Surfer movie on thursday but didn't get chance in the end. Could be good, especially with B5 Boy writing it.

Tim Story told me that a Surfer movie is definitely going to happen - especially as the backstory was handled pretty well in RotSS, so they can crack straight into the plot and the action.

Well listen to you quoting your sources Wink

Just a quick rumour. Alex Proyas of 'The Crow', 'Dark City' and 'I, Robot' fame is in talks to direct the Spin off. That would be a damn fine choice.

Don't you mean "of I, Robot shame"?

I quite liked I, Robot. It was fun and a good blockbuster though it should definitely not have used the name from Asimovs book as its title.

now please just dont slaughter the silver surfer as much as FF2 did Crying or Very sad

i personally hope for no connection between the movies... at all..

Yeah it was alright, but... Will Smith, give me a break, and as for attaching it to Asimov, most definitely not. on a final note, Dark City was Fantastic.

haha ok i didnt touch on the spiderman films.. for a very good reason; i avoided them like i would ebola..

however you cant tell me that the FF films have fulfilled the image you gained from reading the comics..
and that FF2's vague vision of the silversurfer/galactus was anythign short of dissapointing for a hearald of and world consuming balance to the universe...

I think the Fantastic Four films did the best they could in conveying the comic book on the movie screen.

The first one was an enjoyable family film; maybe not a classic, but enjoyable nonetheless. It isn't a film that you need to switch your brain on for; you can just allow yourself to be swept away with the story and special effects as well as the odd character gold from Chris Evans' Johnny Storm.

The second film was an improvement on the first and, again, was a very enjoyable family-oriented film. I thought they handled Silver Surfer reasonably well and I really liked the vague hints handed Galactus. Had they shown Galactus in his full comic book glory, I think the film would've fallen apart considerably; after all, how would a mainstream non-comic book reading audience handle a giant purple-clad humanoid?

The only thing I think both films messed up on, particularly the first, was Victor Von Doom.

Just curious... what would you have liked to see from a movie version of Galactus...?
