Robin The Boy Wonder

Siegel & Keaton's Superman - 1934

I found this article on Newsarama.

The Other 'First' Superman Artist

It seems that Joe Shuster wasn't the only artist Jerry Siegel approached to create a Sunday newspaper comic strip featuring Siegel's very own Superman. Russel Keaton was also approached in 1934 and even produced several strips (ones that were ultimately never published) featuring a somewhat different Superman.

I won't ruin the article. It's well worth reading. There's also a link toward the end of the article to Siegel's original script for Keaton, photostats of Keaton's strip and a letter from Siegel to Keaton daring him to take on the project.

For me, I felt like I was reading a true piece of comics history.

Obviously, all this came before the release of 1938's Action Comics...
