Shooting From The Hip....Reviews by the customer for the customer!!
Punisher War Journal 16
By Matt Fraction and Howard Chaykin
Marvel
Unfortunately this is one of those filler comics you pick up think is crap, convince yourself its actually not that bad, read it again and realise you were right the first time.
It’s a filler comic based upon ‘the gibbon’ after he survived the bar bomb courtesy of The Punisher.
Well written, apart from The Punishers lines, but it's as boring as hell as the story plays out to an obvious conclusion.
Unfortunately the art is below par after being stuck in the rough the entire match.
Frank has a jaw nearly equal to the size of his shoulders, the sort of jaw Bruce Campbell is envious of!
Many panels seem wholly unnecessary doing nothing to further the plot.
The whole thing goes no where and does nothing. As a regular reader, I feel that they are saving Frank to be involved in something but can’t do it yet.
A secret war, maybe?
X-Factor #28
By Peter David and Pablo Raimondi
Marvel
After the fantastic Messiah Complex all the X titles have gone back to telling their own story for better or worse.
From issue 28 you can’t quite tell which but it does give you hope.
After all the events that have happened to X-factor (especially Jamie Madrox) and the rest of mutant kind you would hope for a change in pace and character. This issue is all about establishing new goals and personal motivation for each character.
As expected Jamie is completely obsessed with getting Layla back from Bishops future and this will be the driving force behind many X-factor issues to come.
The feeling of despair is well brought across with each characters state of mind easy to pick up on.
The only thing that lets this down is a couple of members that are genuinely uninteresting characters with as much depth as an American slasher film, not the writers fault really.
The art as with all X titles recently (not New Xmen) was surprisingly good, action is easy to see and detail is shown when it must.
Admittedly I thought I saw a mistake throughout the whole comic that was rectified in the last few pages; however I’m still trying to decide whether the dialogue was written to cover up the fact they had made a mistake.
Many small stories have evolved from this issue and I imagine the main plot will kick off next month with the smaller plots spread throughout.
Good show.

Captain O reviews my pull lis.Much of what I thought about recent issues of Punisher there, nothing has happened in this entire run so far. When is Jigsaw going to be coming into this then???
X-factor has been awesome tho, just waiting to get it and soak it all up.

you have yourself a deal there.
I think the jigsaw story has been scrapped as he has become a major player in the hoods gang. Unless bendis is going to make the punisher DR strange's replacement in the new avengers. If that happened i would most definately do my happy dance

If they scrap the Jigsaw thing then what are they going to have, just the bad run of 6pack and nothing else.
I really think it should be brought to a close and they should reeeeeaaaaaalllly hurry up with the MAX issues, there have been like 2 in 6 months.
