Secret Invasion Part Two

Well the long awaited Secret Invasion starts this week, and we think its going to be a stonker.

we started with House of M which was quite good but really didn’t fulfill its full potential.

then we got Civil War which not only rocked the Marvel Universe but everybody else’s, best friend fell out, wives left there husband and people you thought you knew became strangers, i have been reading comics for a long time but few stories have incited such fierce debate as this one, and few subjects can ignite such an explosive views as a Civil War, in the real world Civil War is probably the most intense, most heart felt, and most savage of all wars, the reasons are simple but complicated, right but also wrong. so i don’t know if i should thank Mark Miller or throw a petrol bomb at him for stirring up such intense feelings. but enough already, on to...

World War Hulk, a slug fest which although having substance and the ability to move, still fell short, i think it was the ending that did it, like we didn’t see the Sentry coming, Duh. but it was fun, it had a good concept to follow on from (Planet Hulk) and like House of M wasn’t half bad, now onto,

Secret Invasion, now i don’t know about you but I’m am excited as hell about this, still bearing the scars from the Civil War, (yes i took sides, no sitting with a fence pole up the arse for me) oh i so want certain institutions to crumble, will they? wont they? this whole "who do you trust thing is (like Civil War) hitting at the very fabric of human nature, Rock on!!!!

If this Series is shit i will eat a kebab Smile see what a chance taker i am .
Reaper

It does look good and in case you hadn't guessed, can you add the main run to my pull ist gov  Very Happy

I bet it's Cyclops who is a Skrull, haven't trusted him since he donned his blue condom suit.
The Rascal King

OK.
Because I'm a bad boy, and was up really early for some reason this morning, and was bored, and recovering, I downloaded and read Secret Invasion #1.

OHBOYOHBOYOHBOY.

I'm going to let everyone read it, and I expect to see you all on here later!

Seriously.
Reaper

It's good isn't it  Very Happy  I read it this morning as well.  Some of those Skrull reveals I REALLY didn't see coming.  One of them was quite obvious after the fact but still quite impressed!  I like the way they're setting up multiple threads in this issue and then next issue we'll get some serious action!
Web of Fear

I thought that issue 1 rocked and am stoked for issue 2.  Let's hope that the momentum can be kept up for the whole event.
Web of Fear

Anyone spot this Skrull in Disassembled?  Can't say I did.

Batmanuel

no cant say i did either.... so who was it?
Web of Fear

Don't know.  Smile
kingmouse

Hank just can NOT get a break from Marvel can he.  Confused

I was expecting a little bit more in the way of big reveals given what Bendis had said about the issue, but ultimatly I think it's a strong start to the series. Looking forward to issue 2.
Batmanuel

has anyone mentioned Sue Storm?
Reaper

I think it's time we said.... from here on in there will be spoilers....  If you haven't read the issue (s) DO NOT READ THIS THREAD!

Sue Storm and Jarvis.... just Wow is all I can think to say.  The question is when did they replace them, Jarvis isn't quite as difficult but Sue Storm, was it during Civil War?
kingmouse

Whey spoiler time!

I'm not sure Sue's actually been replaced as such. The Skrull playing her snuck into he building as a tourist and changed while he was there, plus Johnny said something about Sue supposedly being off visiting family. It’s possible that they just jumped in while she was out of town.

With the Pym replacement though, does this mean that during Civil War there was a Pym who was actually a skrull who was actually hulkling!? Giant Man syndrome continues to plague Marvel it seems, in the last year the poor guy has been replaced by shape changers twice, been beaten up by the Hulk and had his robot take over half the galaxy because he wasn’t a good parent. Guess that’s the problem with being famous enough to be a cliffhanger but not famous enough to be protected by the editors.

Jervis and Dum Dum were ok as reveals I guess, I’m still hoping for some bigger ones though.

Nick Fury returns...The most dangerous man in the Marvel Universe is back!!!!
Nick Fury who went underground after a failed espionage mission, (Secret War)
But now the former Director of S.H.I.E.L.D is back  and ready to kick ass.

see Mighty Avengers #12! for full details, Why is Fury back? (maybe to kick impostor Stark out? Or maybe something more.

And what does his timing have to do with the Secret Invasion? writer Brian Bendis and artist Alex Maleev  reunite for a Secret Invasion tie-in so important, so gob smacking, so shocking, that the events in this issue will reverberate,

Yes  reverberate throughout the Marvel Universe as Fury becomes target number one! And just who is revealed as a Skrull? no Secret Invasion fan or true believer could afford to miss this crucial event tie-in!

And in answer to KM'S Sue Storm is she isnt she,
It has been revealed that there is a Skrull in every group, so why not Sue Storm, and she did seem to know the access codes so if she has been in place for a bit then it would make sense, however this is Sue Storm we are talking about here, we shall see, or is that "we skrull see"
kingmouse

Bendis implied in an interview with IGN this week that the FF were the only group that the Skrulls didn't infiltrate early because they didn't want to get anywhere near them until Reed Richards was safely out of the way. Course this is Bendis and he's generally pretty good at using interviews to throw people off the scent, but it sounds like solid logic to me.

How about the issue 4 cover with Young Avengers on the cover and the FF tie in with the kids in those badass shades? Thems some pretty cool looking pictures.
Reaper

Ha!  The end of New AVengers 40 throws more wood onto the fire and does conflict with quite a few bits we've seen in previous comics.  It's heating up, hurry up Part 2!
Web of Fear

I've just read NA #40 too.  It's a bank holiday on Monday, so have to wait an extra day for SI #2.
Xeall

No big marvel debate is happening without me to make sure stark is getting what comes to him! Hey guys!

So was i bouncing around the room  with happiness at stark having a fit? Maybe.....  Very Happy

SPOILERS FROM NA 40

Ok Jessica Drew i'm now really confused about, does nick know??? Was she the skrull in New or Mighty avengers as there is one in every team? Why did nick fury shave his head? Can i get a monica rambue crying LMD? All so confusing.

Good to be back
Batmanuel

Good to be back

Good to have you back dude Very Happy
Reaper

I would imagine following from NA 40 that she is a Skrull but shes working so deep as to keep the attention off her, maybe she will be the lynchpin in the skrull plan.
Xeall

oh apart form the fact Bats called Hank being a skrull a few months back i re read the horror that was dissasembled and i honestly think in the last section just before tony annouces the disbanding of the avengers, hank and janet have a talk infront of the masion and its a bit weird. Janet's a skrull i believe. that would make sense too.

Jessica drew: new
janet pym : mighty
Sue storm(?) : fanatasic
Hank pym : initative/illuminti

I dont believe sue storm was a skrull either, why would she change shape while on the tour of the building rather than just walk in?

Anyone else read the cap marv mini series? that needs discussing too.
Reaper

Issue 2 didn't quite have the wow factor that the first issue did but it's setting up enough stuff to make issue 3 pretty good.  Interesting that one of the people off the crashed ship wasn't a Skrull and a little unexpected.
