Robin Hood

Robin Hood, Robin Hood, riding through the glen,
Robin Hood, Robin Hood ..... erm, yes, quite, that's enough of that.

What do folk think of the Beeb's new Robin Hood series now it's been running for a few weeks.

Personally, I think it's style over substance. Robin seems to be superhuman (not that I've anything against superhumans mind), with more than the combined archery skills of Green Arrow and Hawkeye. I've found Keith Allen to be disappointing as the sheriff (I suppose Alan Rickman is the definitive evil sheriff). And where's Friar Tuck (unless he's in the pie shop, stuffing his face)

I suppose that having grown up with the Michael Praed/Jason Connery show, which had an errie, mystic element to it, I was hoping something like that would have been recreated, but obviously that wasn't the direction they chose to go. Shame, would like to have seen the return of Hearne the Hunter .....

Sorry i haven't seen it so i cant comment, will let you know if and when i catch an episode, but to be honest i think that the whole Robin Hood thing is a bit dead in the water, i mean Steal from the rich and give to the poor... who does he think he is setting a bad example like that, more like steal from the poor the rich and anyone who has something you want, and keep the bloody lot. Twisted Evil

they scraped him! That's right they dare to make a robin hood without Friar Tuck as they did not deem him a good role model (being slightly over wieght, guzzling twenty flagons of ale and having a healthy appetite and all.) And as this was intended to a good family programe he was axed as un-PC and not good for the kids! Evil or Very Mad

so with that in mind i was not particulary impressed enough to watch it.

Its a bunch of arse.
Robin The Boy Wonder

I watched the first episode and then it dawned on me...

Every episode would tell the same bloody story!

Every week, Robin would pine for Marian, get in the Sherriff's face, the Sherriff would announce that he wants Robin's head, and Robin would beat them all back with his band of male friends who live in the woods together...

Sounds more like an advert for the next series of Queer as Folk!

So, no, I don't watch it.

So... So far then its not a resounding 10 out of 10 then.

It still does indeed still appear to be a bunch of arse, but I've just noticed that the ads that auto generate in the last post are to buy the BBC DVD's of the series! Laughing

Well if thats the case I would advise you not to click on the link and not to buy the dvds.

It all depends on the arse; male or female? Hot or not?

Pussycat Doll or Girl Aloud?

Or both... dribbledribbledribble

Well i finally got to watch an episode of Robin Hood and i must say that my reaction to it was not that posative (Sorry Web of) i found myself wanting to turn over after about 15 mins.

I wouldn't ga as far as saying its a bunch of arse!?!?!? becuase im sure it has some redeeming value.

but it just not for me.

mind you if its a toss up between Robin Hood or Stars in there eyes, or that awful danceing thing they put on a saturday night, oh whats it called? well i think old Robin just might win Laughing

i suppose one could allways dig ones eyes out with a spoon. Idea

No need to apologise Batmanuel, I don't like it either! I was just curious to know what people thought, given that the Beeb has put a lot of money and effort into the show, and stuck it into the "Doctor Who" slot against some strong ITV competition.

It can't be doing too badly though. A second series has been commissioned......
Guest

A second series eh?

God knows how.

I wonder if thats because they sunk SO much money in to it they kind of had to make another series so they wouldn't have to admit its bombed!!!

BBC Fiction controller Jane Tranter said: "The cast have engaged and delighted a whole new generation with this fresh and modern retelling of Robin Hood.

"Keith Allen's captivating portrayal of the menacing Sheriff coupled with the great performances from our young cast headed up by Jonas Armstrong equals compelling drama."

WHAT IS SHE ON??? HAS SHE EVEN WATCHED THE DAMN SHOW???

A Fresh and modern retelling? What? Modern because they were too scared to include a Fat Friar cos they feared a PC backlass (I feel potraying Friar Tuck as a fat man means the BBC is infering all Christians as fat usless greedy Ba*(&^! I Have no life Rev Sith aged 63 1/2)

And as for fresh - well, when a cow craps in a field - thats fresh as well. Don't want it on my TV though!!!

Oh that quote was from the BBC site Web head provided above - for all of you to lazy to click and look!
