red sonjai think this is good news, robert rodriguez is set to make this for a 2010 put out date, with rose McGowan in the title role, being a huge fan of the she-devil with a sword McGowan would not be my first choice but i think is good casting.
what do others think?

I think she was very good in Planet Terror, and while very attractive, too small and delicate for Red Sonja.
Off the top of my head I don;t know who else I would suggest. Lucy Lawless is probably too old now, as is Daryl Hannah (who they would have to bulk up a lot anyway), maybe Zoe Bell? I don't know if she can act but Trish Stratus (once of the WWE) is one of the few live people who could pull off the look.
Still Rodriguez is a very good director so it will probably look amazing, be very exciting and have a great soundtrack.

i think that Rose Mcgowan will do a cracking job as sonja, although i think that trish stratus would of also worked well. my top choice would of been Milla jovovich not only does she cut well in action roles but she also shares the same kind of "ethicity" as sonja's Hyborian place of birth.

I think she is a good actress in a mad kind of way.
Norsefire1 is right though, she looks the part even if she is not as "classically attractive".

interestingly enough i have been in dialogue with a close friend of Roy (Conan) Thomas, and its due to the rights of Red fire haired girl herself
Sorry got sidetracked, Milla jovovich, that could work... well for me anyway 
and have hinted that perhaps he and Roy could visit a upcoming function,
i am not rushing things, its taken me a year of dialogue to get this close, and i am not one to take the piss and abuse a friendship for financial gain, but imagine that, Roy Thomas visits Whatever 
Wonder if i can get Stan, Nah that would be asking too much, wouldn't it?

Cy gave Jim Starlin a pen at the Bristol con - maybe that means he will come to Whatever Comics to repay him  Think of all those people who would not have got sketches or signings if he couldn't get a pen from anywhere...
But seriously - that would be great.
Just reading that trade of Born on The Battlefield that you recommended - I know it is not Roy Thomas, but it just reminded me to say how much I am enjoying it.

thats some sure fire casting right there, catfang. an awesome choice and the fact she has left the wwe for a while would mean it would work, plus as you may know she is done with the wwe and has proved she can act in other stuff. although a little old if it was going to be a franchise starting off with an origin story, but amy dumas would work well.
