I know even less about this... although I do know that if either Paul W.S. Anderson or Uwe Boll get their hands on a Grant Morrison script, they will find whole new ways to reinvent the movie term that is commonly used to describe one of their flicks: 'turkey'.
So please, please, please, please don't do this Grant. Don't lower yourself!!!

My mate was explaining him the other day, from what i can tell he has made a bunch of video game movies [comic book movies ugly cousin] but unlike Paul W.S Anderson[resident evil, AVP] he did them ALL very badly. So im guessing this is from the game area 51 if their names are being pluged onto it

Man, I kicked that games ARSE.
Seriously, other arcade games, I'm ok at, but Area 51? I apologise in advance for the language, but I am sh!t-hot at that game.

Uwe Boll is an abysmal director, House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, BloodRayne etc. Sadly Anderson isn't much better, while you can watch his films they're still utterly devoid of soul. AvP still rates as one of my worst films ever, only Anderson could manage to take two great series of films and butcher them.

I thought AvP was fun and not as bad as some think (Hi Reaper! ).
As for butchering the two franchises, AvP didn't do that... Alien: Resurrection well and truly butchered that one while I can't remember much of Predator 2. All I remember is that it was nowhere as good as the first.
My point is: both franchises were already butchered before AvP came along. How could AvP make it any worse?
At least it wasn't Freddy vs. Jason...

No it was worse There is one thing that should never ever ever ever be shown.... a jumping face hugger in bullet time.... Why you ask? Because simply it ruins the whole effect of the face huggers. They're meant to be quick as death scary little feckers and what do they become in bullet time?... Trinity only without the boobs and sunglasses

Well for what its worth....
I liked AVP. It was mindless fun. Agree it totally runined some of the mythology (since when do infected humans give "birth" to aliens in a matter of minuets??) but totally saved itself with the back ground history of "The company" and the Bishop android. That little link made the whole thing worth while for me and is the kind of thing they should have done in the Marvel movies to make you feel you were watching a world rather than a franchise.
Alien Resirection was my favourite Alien film. Alien was the best Sc-Fi Horror ever, Aliens one of the best shooty Sci Fi flicks, Alien 3 we can all try and forget about (mind you if you watch the Aliens Quadology extras you will see it's mostly the studios fault it was poo!) But Resirection combined for me the horror/action/sci-fi themes in to one please package. And Sygorny Weaver was excellent!
Also Predator two was just as good as the first, but again was a different type of film to the first one. A little more intelligent, which explains why the Boy Wonder struggled with it...

AvP did have a few moderatly good bits, but still.
Best summed up:

I swear CapO has a reading deficiency we were all unaware of... when do I say that I struggled with Predator 2? All I said was that it was some time since I last saw it and that I didn't think it was anywhere near as good as the first!
Ah, well... intelligence isn't one of CapO's strong points. He enjoyed Alien: Resurrection. How can that be anyone's favourite Alien film?!? When was Sigourney Weaver awesome in that film? All she did was show up and pick up the paycheck at the end of shooting!
Otherwise, may I suggest that you stop drinking that Cannabis Absinthe...? It's clearly playing tricks on your mind...

Unfortunately in regards to Alien Resurrection I partially agree with Boy Wonder, it wasn't terrible but there were some serious issues with it and no way in hell can a person who isn't insane think it's the best of the series (CapO you obviously have issues, we'll work on that;-))
No.3 was screwed because Fox and BrandyWine productions kept getting in Finchers way and changing things, making them re-edit etc They really screwed up his first film and made the experience so unpleasent that he refused to come back do anything on the quadrilogy boxset. All the other directors did.

Alien Ressirection was the most fun of the four films.
Don't get me wrong. Alien was excellent crap-your-pants scarey. But I am not a big horror fan. Aliens was a little to gung ho for me, although i still really enjoyed it. As Reaper said, Alien 3 had loads of problems, not least of which was the fact Flincher had to shoot the film on someonelse set cos they had used up the budget before being fired and he had no script! He was literally shooting and making things up as he went along!!
Resurrection was fun. It had some nice horrorish moments, action, sci-fi stuff and general thrills. It advanced the story nicley (clones, new androids etc) and opened up new avenues for the films.
And the Ripley from that film was nasty! The total opposite to the Ripley from the 1st film. it was a good book end!

Honestly, we're a bunch of comic fans. We all know full well that Alien 3 should have been based on Outbreak.
And anyway, Aliens was quite obviously the best movie.

CapO - your comments take me back to the Constantine thread... but this time our roles have reversed somewhat!
You are clearly insane. Now go celebrate with the little birdies you see flying about your head...
All joking aside, it is your opinion... but it's one that's stunned the forum - we'll never look at you in quite the same way again now...
