norsefires1 review of collectormania

yesterday (sun) i attended the  collectormania con at Milton Keynes. when i first arrived at the con, which was inside a shoping centure, i was dumbfounded by the organization, which was nothing like any other con/signing i had been to, before the con even  openend we where meet by a quite bizzare queing system, where one had to que, for a ticket with a number on which would then corraspond to when you could meet the stars and gain there autograph. this system was utter chaos, there seemed to be no co-ordination between the event staff whatsoever from star to star, by mid afternoon, this system of numbers had all but collapsed. apart from the chaos the event was very good, although everything was a little cramped and haveing to compete with sunday consumers as well as the other people at the con was a bit of a pain, i would suggest a bigger and less public venue if the con is to grow any larger. the varity of stars there was very good. just from the people i met. they had been in such things as Torchwood/dr who. Heroes, the Exoccist and Robin of sherwood/transformers. also i thought that the range of dealers there was very good as well. with some nice/rare bits and bobs. all in all a good show, with some cool names. but the chaos of the day made getting about the layout of the con a little man.

Did you get any rare treasures?
Web of Fear

My folks live not too far from MK, so I've been there a few times.  My main criticism is that it's too cramped.  The same people that organize that also organized one at Earl's Court.  Much more comfortable and easier to move around.

Did you snag any bargains?

i am 100% with you on about it being too cramped web of fear, could not agree more.

the real prize was and treasure being the right word to use there Catfang
was a Replica of Conans sword, that was used in the 90's live action Conan the adventure t.v show. the blade  was used as a display sword during the time the show came out. so it seems to have been used for publicaty and the like. it is nothing short of awsome.

On the other hand though, entrance is free!  Very Happy
