Kane and LynchWell, put it in the ps3 yesterday and played it one and two player co-op.
So disappointing. Looks like a mid range ps2 game and controls like a dog.
Traded it straight in today and the girl in the shop said lots of people were doing the same for the same reason.
What a shame - we had really been excited about this one ever since we first read about it.

I read today that a long serving reviewer on Gamespot.com was sacked because of the reviews he gave Kane and Lynch. Apparently Eidos had a lot of advertisment on gamespot and this reviewer did a review slating the game to some extent, he then went onto do a video review which was even more scathing. A week later he was let go by the website and many believe that Eidos put pressure on gamespot.com. Gamespot haven't helped these rumours by not actually denying them.

I apologize for not warning people before hand, i picked it up, read review and hadn't even opened it and returned it. Unfortunatly it needed a couple more months development.
A sequel qouldn't be a bad idea cos they can turn it into the game it should have been. There is a film schedueled for 2009 though

The idea sounded so great, that's what the big shame is.
I have to admit (and this has happened to me before with books and comics and films as well as games - you'd think I'd know better by now ) that I was so impressed by the character concept art I kind of expected it to look like that "inside".
We were talking about it afterwards and realised that for all the advance publicity there had never been a playable demo - maybe that should have been a tip off.
Re the gamespot / eidos thing - this is why, in general, we buy fewer magazines etc than we used to and rely more on demos / trying to find a good cross section of opinion from various sources on the internet etc.

When I pre-ordered it I wasn't even on the forum - so I can't hold you responsible myself
I'm sure if people just want to have a quick run about and shoot some things and have played all their other games to death it may be fine. It certainly doesn't justify its promotion as a "must have next gen title" though.
Also I'm really very shallow about games having to be pretty!
Would be interested to see if anyone has it and likes it.

Xeall how come you didn't try it?

Here is the video review
I don't agree with the reviewer's comments about the "bad language" and "unlikeable characters" but the rest is pretty true.
In this review the graphics don't look too bad on such a tiny screen, but when they are blown up to 37" across they are pretty shocking.

With my work hat on (I work in online marketing - specifically in psychology of user behaviour and communications) I cannot believe how all parties involved in this did not forsee how this would spiral once people started talking about this.
Whatever the truth actually is hardly matters now as if you search for "Kane and Lynch"+review over half the results on the first page (and this is all that matters) are about the controversy.
This is going to cost both companies so much more than the original ad deal, I'm sure. It will probably also give a boost to the career of the guy who did the review as he gets his 15 minutes of fame.

Yep.
But another mag / site should be smart enough to offer him a job and then make something of the fact that they have done so.

Hi
When you say "similar" do you mean in terms of type of story / type of game / 1 or 2 player etc?
Although it's getting on a bit now if you liked the 2 player aspect of going through the story with someone it then Gears of War is the best thing I've played recently (on PC).
Which console do you have? Resistance Fall of Man is very good on PS3.
Shame about Kane and Lynch - I'd been looking forward to it for ages as well.

Been giving it a run through on co-op lately after being dissapointed with it first time round. It's still not stunning but it's proving passable during the spring dry season.

As i said before multiplayer was ok. Campain and co-op sucked major ass. co-op crown at the mo does go to gears of war but Army of 2 is not that far away (7th march). Best online games go to call of duty 4 and team fortress 2 (pc version), i can't get enough of either.
