After a shopping spree of bizarre magnitude, i found myself the owner of a ps3 and a psp. after much faffing around smelling instruction manuals (they just smell soo good) i set up the ps3, spend hours filling in online forms informing sony of my name, address, bank details, any plans i have for starting a family etc, and promptly gave up to stick on the ds. a quick bout of final fantasy and a cigarette later, i merrily save my game.
wading through the piles of packing materials, i remember that i also bought a psp (well, strictly i bought final fantasy tactics, but needed a psp for that unfortunately, and justified it's purchase to myself by assuming that it wold somehow be connectable to my ps3), Preparing myself for some square-lovin', i crack on the psp obly to be greeted with a message along the lines of 'if you wish to save this game, as you inevitably will, you will need to go out and purchase some sort of memory. loser'
say what? admittedly, this has gotten a little ramble-y, but brings us to the main point(s) of debate - why doesn't the psp have internal storage? why does a psp bundle that comes with an rpg not come with some sort of saving capability? and finally, why do the staff in game not say something like 'ah, sir, it would appear that you have just puchased a handheld system with an rpg - would you like to purchase some memory so that you might be able to save, as without it you won't bother turning the damn thing on and wil instead use it as a £150 paperweight?'
...just a late-night thought...

because you didn't come to me. i would have told you as much and you would not find yoursled in this tricky somewhat annoying situation.
The psp does not have internal storage as it is a mass multimedia device used for many different purposes. Some may use it just for gaming others for photos and music. To allow the price to range depending on your choice there is no internal storage. the biggest memory card you can get is 32gb nexy year. My question is 'no matter what you use it for who the hell is gonna need that much!!!!'
If you want a good sized memory i have on at x electrical for 25 quid for a 2gb. Thats the size i use as i have never felt the need for more.
And yes sony products do come with alot of packaging, nintendo with neat little trays with pictures showing you how to put it back when you realise there are no games on the Wii and you should trade it in, microsoft with there box of coloured packets which desguise what your opening until you've opened them all just for find the scart lead!!!
For any gaming questions just send me a message, any of you.

I've found the whole memory card issue annoying since the days of the PSX and the N64. Before then all consoles came with built in memory, then suddenly you had to buy it?! Evil thieving gits!

admittedly before then everything was on carts, hence the save feature, but still... i have a ps3, which i save on, therefore sony should let me save on my psp. flawed logic, but hey.
and xeall, i guess it turns out you're you (who i thought you were based on your avatar). Turns out i have mad detective skills (and apologies for buying stuff in game, it was early and it was on a spree.)
same thing happened with my ds too, that needed a certain piece of kit which i didn't get for about 8 months, so ended up on a pile of papers in my desk...
