Hope they keep the madder Hulk gets the bigger Hulk gets though. Thought that worked reallty well.

Personally, I'm hoping Zak Penn, writer of the X-Men sequels, goes with something more along the lines of X2 than X3...

Don't even get me started on X3. I read about this yesterday and while I don't exactly see it working in a way because I can't see Norton in the role, he is however a damned fine actor.

I think that Edward Norton is a great choice for Bruce Banner. I do agree that there should be more "Hulk Smash" than the last effort.

Definitely.. more Hulk SMASH
i wonder what the Hulk would be like if you give him copious amounts of Beer

Welllll according to the internet yesterday the new Hulk was going to be gray, this was based on a comment made by Avi Arad 'New actor etc etc New Colour'. Now however Arad is quoted as saying he was messing around and the Hulk will still be green

'The new version of Hulk will be less serious than the last '
This means one of two things
1. Batman and robin
2. Like hulk in the animated avengers film i.e smash
Can anyone name a super hero film with more than one main bad guy resulting in good plot?
Oh and liz tyler is HOT. The blindness of some people.

She isn't hot.
And in answer to your other question.... X-Men 2 (technically), Batman Returns, Batman Begins, Superman II.
I think when they say less serious, they mean less painstakingly serious and morose rather than weeeeeeee bright flashy colours!!!!

X-men doesn't count as there are more than one superhero and having 10 on 1 bad guy would be a bit dull! Batman begins i almost said that in the post. Batman returns and superman 2 are passable.
but apart from those, what have the romans ever done for us?

Y'know, this might actually be a very good film and possibly even the sleeper hit of the summer.
Ed Norton should be an excellent fit for Bruce Banner (although I thought Eric Bana was quite good in the role too) and, judging by these photos, he just might well look the part too.
I'm hopeful this is going to be a very good year for super hero movies.

The hulk in Hulk looked better.

Think it suffers a bit from the CGI not looking "part of the world" but kind of painted over it. Hulk and Abomination seem atrangely weightless.
I know it can be done well. I've seen Lord of The Rings.

The new film looks total gash - it's like the Ang Lee version never happened. And let us remember, Hulk, was one of the best comic book movies ever made - balancing perfectly the human and kick-ass side of comics. Not just the dumb childish nonsense that outsiders associate with our dirty little habit.
Liv Tyler? Er, no. Jennifer Connelly FTW.
The effects look balls too.

i am going to have to side with the 'WHAT THE F***' side of this arguement.
The hulk film good? ok the one scene in the desert made me giggle like a child, but other than that, hulk poodle? sod off.
best comic film made is batman begins. spider-man 1 wasn't that bad. Hulk film is down there with the punisher but above spidey 3.

The Hulk movie was kind of awful...
The best comic film made was 300 or Sin City though. The best Superhero film was probably Spiderman - or The Incredibles.

just found out that the films star Ed Norton is not happy with the cut and is not supporting the film with covering the press when the film comes out.
|
waffle
|
Yeah, Norton has been threatening that for a while. It's because he wasn't allowed to have final cut on the film. The guy needs to stick to acting and stop being such a prima donna prick.
Anyway.
Hulk is a great, great comic book movie, and showed the world that comics aren't just about things blowing up, but that they are home to some great drama and moving stories as well.
It was an extremely well-balanced film, that didn't resort to cheesy crowd-pleasing tricks like other superhero movies.
I agree that Sin City is probably the best comic book movie out there, but so far Hulk best encapsulates the true vibe of a superhero comic. At least, one that's not aimed at 12-year-olds.

The Incredible Hulk
Hands up who liked Hulk?.... Only me? Probably... The majority of people really didn't like Hulk sadly and it's fairly understandable, weird uber dogs and a bad daddy cloud. But the casting was pretty much spot on and the effects were great (anyone who says otherwise is retarded....). Public opinion meant that for a sequel/reimagining the production company had to go down a slightly different route, Hulk 2 is not as cerebral as Hulk and instead has far more action.
Bruce Banner on the run from Hulkbusters (out of their depth) and that's all you need to get in the film really. It's a real shame that they decided to practically erase the story from Hulk from the movie continuity as they had a solid base from which to launch a sequel. At the beginning of Hulk 2 we get a cut down and adjusted history of Hulks creation which being honest didn't fill me with hope for the rest of the film. I was however pleasently surprised, while they dispense with any thought that's above a Sun reader they have managed to get the action and sheer anger of the Hulk right. Alongside his tender nature and fear whenever Betty Ross in the frame. Ed Norton is a good Bruce Banner, he looks a little weedy and geeky which adds to the impact when he turns into the Hulk. Norton is obviously a great actor and so he handles the role very well, it's a shame that Liv Tyler got the part as she isn't quite so convincing and it's even more of a shame that they didn't re-enlist Jennifer Connolly for the role. Same goes for General Ross, while William Hurt is very good, he doesn't sum it up as nicely as Sam Elliot did.
When Banner turns up back in the US he finds that Betty has found a squeeze, you have to feel sorry for this new guy because as soon as Betty sees Banner it's all over and there's no real resolution of that issue.
Hulk 2 is generally a better film than Hulk, it makes more sense, is more cohesive and is beautifully framed. Hulk though featured a more convincing Hulk, he was a brighter green which makes him seem comicy and could detract from his realism but the skin tones, hair and facial expressions were better. The new Hulk is by no means bad but you can tell he's not created by ILM and so some of the CGI looks a bit out of place, also he seems a little short to me. I quite liked the fact that Ang Lee's hulk got bigger as he got angrier. It was nice to see what the Hulk could actually do to a normal (near normal person in this case) if he took offense to him. Rather than just throwing him somewhere off screen, we get to see the brutal impact of a Hulk Smash.
The Incredible Hulk is a good fun action film, it's not as good as Iron Man, it's more like the less intelligent brother to Iron Man. But it works, the action is the main draw for the film and it's a pounding beauty of what amounts to a war film.

Nice review.
CatFang and I have tickets to see this at the IMAX this afternoon. We'll have another forum member with us (Kirbyhands - possibly the best forum name ever). He's the one person I know who really did enjoy Ang Lee's Hulk.
I asked him why once. His answer: "shut up - that's why!"
Hard to argue with that...

Yep - that sums it up pretty well. You won't come out of it wanting to be the Hulk like you came out of Iron Man wanting a flying robot suit, but this is a film well worth seeing. We certainly enjoyed it a lot. Think of it kind of on the same level of the X-Men films, I would say.
For me it took a bit longer than necessary to get going, but once the action started then Louis Le Terrier comes into his own. There were some outstanding set pieces - look out for the Hulk on a mountain in a thunderstorm, some really nice relationships between the characters and some very solid performances.
The CGI looks better on a big screen that it did in the trailers, that may also be due to the sound giving extra "weight", although Rhythm and Hues still have some way to catch Weta or ILM. A really nice job has been done on the subtlety of expression, I liked the pain in there with the anger, on the faces, and both the Hulk and the Abomination move very well.
I am not sure how big the Hulk is supposed to be from the comics, but I liked that he was not so big that he was really on too large a scale to interact with humans as I thought he was in the Ang Lee version.
Some very nice "what makes a monster?" questions raised, as you would expect, and some interesting answers.
If I had one gripe it would be that I found my sympathies more with Tim Roth as Emile Blonsky than with Ed Norton as Banner. Although I think this is the way the characters are written and not due a bad performance by Ed Norton. I guess I will always prefer a "prometheus" to a "hercules".
I didn't like the previous Hulk outing, and I don't read the comic, so I was not expecting much out of this, but in fact I came out really impressed and will be buying on dvd when it comes out.
There are some other bits and pieces that I really want to discuss some more here, but they will be spoilers so I guess I will wait til it looks like everyone who is going to see it has seen it.
