Edwardian Supersizeme - BBC4

Did anyone see this? Giles Coren and Sue Perkins spent a week partaking of an Edwardian diet, which consists of four, five course meals a day, including vast amounts of goose, devilled eggs, devilled kidneys, kedgeree and pork chops.

Unsurprisingly, their cholesterol shot up and they suffered from large amounts of flatulence and burping.

The worst thing was "raw beef tea" - water infused with raw beef - which was drunk - to aid indigestion! Shocked

No i missed it, i really wanted to see it too.
But i bet for sure, that their food was not mass produced, processed, and pumped full of chemicals.

id go on the Edwardian diet, but only if i could go back in time and do it in Edwardian Times, yum yum.

It's repeated next Thursday at 10.30.

The food wasn't pumped full of additives, but it was full of protein and fats. Not much carbs or fibre. Apparently, the average life expectancy of an Edwardian man was 42, though what was eaten on the show was only eaten by the very top tiers of society. Everyone else probably lived in relative poverty, with poor healthcare.

Here's a link to the BBC site. It shows the menu for one day.
