Daemon - the 1st comic from Insomina PublishingDeamonBy Coutts Duncan and Hodge Well we have a rarity here. A comic published by a company based in the UK, Essex to be precise. Deamon is their first offering and is a six part bi monthly series. The first impression is... Wow!!! Flicking thought the book some of the page layouts just fly out at you and knock your socks off. The art reminds me of a combination of David Mack/Dave McKean and... someone else. Unfortunately it’s the "someone else" that lets things down a bit. Some of the detail work is quite poor. They seem to have trouble drawing faces, for example. Also, I feel the colouring isn't quite right at the moment - but I am willing to let that slide as it’s their first book and these things take time to perfect. Over all, I would say the art has a "designer" feel to it. Which certainly isn’t a bad thing, just a bit different. The story revolves around a government experiment with mental powers and drugs. Not entirely original but reasonably well done. The main character is involved in a motor bike accident which leaves him a paraplegic. He is driven to try to use the experiment to seek revenge on the women who drove the car that hit him. And as I hate to reveal too much in a review... that’s all you’re getting!!! Over all I found this book really interesting and a very worthy first book from a new publishing house. Clearly they are trying to be a little different and that should be applauded. Time will tell if the succeed, but lets hope they do eh? Ask Manny to order you a copy, I think you will be intrigued. 7/10 On a side note... Considering it. But will a new company be ready to parody DC and Warner Brothers?
Also - i am more of an ideas man. I dont think I have the disapline needed to be a writer. Well, not a deadline hitting writter anyway!!! |

Yeah. but I dont want to be hypocritical. I hate late shipping stuff and dont wat to contribute to the problem!
If the ywould only relese my stuff when i have completed a story arc - that would be cool (working on the theory I was good enough!). But other than that.... |
