Comic Cartoons

ok , so not movies - but anyone out their going to admit to watching some of the comic related cartoons that where out in the 90's? links are to intro's to cartoons only - just for nostalgic purposes: What can i say, i'm a student i get to sit around all day (drink beer) and watch retro cartoons. (i'm sure i missed a whole load, so if you can think of anymore post em up.)

personally the old style x-men cartoon was ace -
but where is Angel?

x-men evolution. made them all look anorexic but they did have some good plot lines, and devolped the charecters of rogue and spike well.
schoolkids x-men

The old spiderman cartoon (90's) was good:
cool

Conan had his own cartoon - In the sense that someone the main charector looked a bit like Conan and had the same name but that is where the similarities stop - even so it did have a rocking into theme tune.
remeber

Fantastic Four had a cartoon, can't remember too much about it except it filled the timeBAD theme tune

The original Batman cartoon was actually pretty good -
Ode to the 90's

Then their is Batman Beyond of course - can't say i have watched it, and why again do the cartoon makers make them all look anorexic? future of the bat?

How could i have missed the Avengers cartoon!
anyone watched this?

OK now these cartoons are WAY before my time, but figured i would put them up for all the old people who use the forum Twisted Evil

For example in 1939 you guys would of got to watch Superman!

or even superman with his cartoon (1939)
boy this is OLD

and sub-mariner cartoon (1966)
i do not envy you!

Iron -man (1966)
I'm so glad they don't make cartoons like this anymore

Cool post!

Batman Beyond is actually quite good - suprisingly! Bruce Wayne takes on the role of mentor to the new Batman and is in constant comunication with him - telling him what to do! The new Batman gets his abilities (mostly) from the suit he wears - which the original Batman 1st made when he realised he was getting old and the crooks were getting faster than him. So it actually makes a kind of sense!

Nice little touches in it too. For example the Joker has become a kind of cult anti hero and there is a Gang called the Jokers (inspired!) who dress as clowns and act like nutters!

And yep - the old style X-men cartoon was great - but Eveloution did have better story lines.

As for the new cartoons... The Batman is done quite well - the Joker is completley nuts in it - but the one that beats them all for me at the moments is Justice League Unlimited. I have never before seen a cartoon with so many characters in it - and they are all spot on to their comic counterparts. Bloody brilliant it is! Watch it now!

Now looking to the future this loks quite good.

ok might have to give the new batman a chance then...

as for futurastic cartoons how could i miss (once you get past the scary cat, and commercial)

Phantom 2040

this was a good cartoon, ended incomplete after only one season and about as rare as a Phantom comic! (printed in 1938 in Ace Comics - which you can't find ANYWHERE dammit.)

also missed from the old cartoons Thor

boy did kids had it bad in 1966 Laughing
Robin The Boy Wonder

This is a thread for me to watch when Ann's out...

She knows I'm a geek now... I don't want to give her a reason to leave me. After all, who'd do the ironing? Wink

...and the washing...

...and the cooking...

Umm the same person whos made to do all the house work now... you!!! Evil or Very Mad
Robin The Boy Wonder

Now that you mention it, I did cook dinner tonight...

Have you also noticed that our chats always go off-topic?

Back to topic, I only really watched the Spider-Man and X-Men cartoons in the 90s... and they were pretty cool. I loved how the X-Men always tried to mimic the comic series and did it so well too.

thats cos my super intelligent mind is always jumping all over the place - and your sheep like mind follows!!! Very Happy

Back to topic. Transformers was always my favourite as a kid. Nothing beats that for me. Not strictly superhero of corse - but comic related!
Robin The Boy Wonder

He-Man was my fix.

I took in the cartoon, the comics and...

...the 1987 live action movie with Dolph Lundgren. Saw it at the cinema and thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. Although I wasn't too keen on that hairy creature they introduced; Gwildor.

...oh, and I bought the comic adaptation to the movie too!

So was it before or after the HE-Man fixation that you started dreaming about dressing up in green chain mail shorts, green pixie boots and having a yellow cape around your neck?!?!?! Twisted Evil
Robin The Boy Wonder

Dreaming about it...?

Whaddaya think I'm wearing now? Wink

Whatever the hell Ann has told you too I imagine!!! Razz
The Rascal King

Justice Leauge, and Unlimited were both great, especially when they mixed in with Batman Of The Future, but also equally good is Static Shock. He also meets up with Batman Of The Future which is fun.
Also, don't care, I love it, Teen Titans is great, even though it does have a sickening lack of Kid Flash.
There was a Spiderman cartoon made after the first movie, which was all CGI'd up, but I never really saw it.
Robin The Boy Wonder

Yeah, I've heard of that post-movie Spider-Man cartoon. Wasn't it supposed to continue from where the movie left off...?

I can't help but notice that DC seem to have a good cartoon base at the moment but all Marvel have is the occasional Ultimate Avengers DVD.

When are Marvel gonna give us more cartoons? Ultimate Spider-Man seems like an obvious choice to me...

Spiderman 3 Trailer

Check this out

Black Phoenix

looks ok, but if they are doing a take on venom - my only quibble is that i like the outfit of venom not sure about just a black spidey suit it just seems a bit er.... unoriginal/ low budget.
Batmanuel

unoriginal/ low budget... had'nt thought of that, but now you mention it i have to agree.
Guest

Ummm my question is....

Why the hell is that trailer in a topic about cartoons?!?!!?
Batmanuel

because i put it in the wrong place, ok, happy now, now BUG OFF!!!

MUST DRINK MORE BEER,MUST DRINK MORE BEER,MUST DRINK MORE BEER,

Besides Cartoons are Films, so there.

Umm I think you will find that cartoons are cartoons and sometimes a cartoon is turned in to a feature length film.

And maybe drinking less beer before posting would HELP YOU GET THE TOPIC IN THE RIGHT BLEEDIN' PLACE!!!

Ground breaking and revelutionary I know.... Shocked
The Rascal King

How did I go so long without Smallville in my life? First Season blew me away!

And there is a new fantastic Four cartoon coming out soon. Sort of riding on the coat tails of Teen Titans.

I just can't get in to Smallville. I want to like it. It's quite well done. The stories don't totaly suck. But it just doesnt work for me. I think the only time i watch it is when I have a hangover and cant be arsed to change the channel!!!
The Rascal King

No way dude, I was like that before. I'd seen a couple of episodes, and heard good things, but it didn't call to me.
After Season 1, I am absolutly in love. I HAVE to get season 2 soon, or I may die. In fact, I am actually trecking over to Blockbuster right now, to see if the jackass who rented it has returned it early. I won't be happy if I have to wait untill Sunday.
And I'll get season 3 before the jerk can nab it as well.
