Civil War death?

I think it's pretty clear from the way Civil War is going, that Bill 'That Other Tall Bloke in the Avengers' Foster isn't going to be the only casulty of Civil War. The importance Marvel have placed on the book and the kind of writer Millar is, I think we're going to see someone big get offed before it's all said and done. Obviously anyone with a movie coming out or an ongoing series is safe, so that rules out all the REALLY big stars, but still leaves plenty of possibles. So who would you suggest should look into getting life insurance before Jan 31st?

Personally my money is on either Reed and Sue's kids (they're not essential, but it'd be a big enough event to end the war and bring the 4 back together) or on the pro-regs killing a buch of civilians by mistake.

I've been thinking about this.

I think you are right - someone has to die.

And i think it will be a Spidey charater.

So I am going for...

JJJ!!!

Now that Peter is unmasked and no longer selling pics, Johna is a big enough name to make an impact when killed but will not destroy loads of planned story arcs.

Just imagine JJJ sacrafising himself to save Spidey - cos he likes Peter. Could have a great peice of "Stan Lee" type moralising before he did it!!!

Hmmm, a Spidy character is a real possibility. It would make sense with the upcoming Back In Black stuff and Pete's kinda at the center of it as it is.

The trouble i have with JJJ is that I don't think he'd have enough impact on the key players behind civil war. Iron Man didn't get too shaken when one of his oldest friends got iced, so I don't the death of some media hack would really phase him. That's kind of a general problem with Spidy in this story, despite being at the center of it, none of the big players are really that close to him or care that much what he thinks. He's not really in the thick of it enough for the death of one of his friends to matter unless its someone like MJ and Marvel have alread said that she's off limits.

You never know, maybe they'll all decide to stop fighting and butcher Logan. Wink

Maybe it will be Cap? I can see it now Cap dies in the heat of battle and Iron Man realises what he's done and falls to his knees crying. To make a real impact it'll have to be someone who's big in the universe otherwise no one will really be that bothered. Maybe one of the F4?

JJJ... You cant kill JJJ, You just cant, but why does anybody have to die to stop the fighting, just plant a bottle or two or three of vodka in Tony Starks office and Bingo, job done.
Then we can go in there and kick the crap outta the little snot. Laughing

Nope - but he is a well known public figure. Very very public figure. And his death would leave Spidy conflicted and gulity (which is bread and milk for Spider-man!!) and have a massive publisity effect. The Bugle would have a feild day. The death doesn't need to "shake" anybodt particulally, but it does net to be felt in the same kind of publicity hungrey, milk a tragady for everything you can kinda way that Stamford has.

no chance!!! Very Happy

The Falcon, maybe...?

Tony Stark, perhaps...? After all, it's been strongly hinted that Tony Stark won't be Iron Man post Civil War (although I'm betting that'll be because he'll be Director of SHIELD).

I dunno; why does anyone have to die?

Mark Millar recently revealed in an interview that he hates killing established characters off because it's usually a cheap death. If a big name dies, it's only ever a matter of time before said big name returns (re: Hawkeye) or a character dies that no one cares about (re: Goliath).

My guess then is that no one will die.

As for the FF, they're staying separated post Civil War.

I'm still not sure about JJJ, I don't think you can make him a likeable enough character for it to matter to the reader in the short time they have left. It would be a big public event, but it lacks the personal touch which might lessen the impact. It's possible I guess, but for some reason I'd still like to see the kids die.

It could be one of the reporters from Embedded, probably the woman rather than Ulric. There's enough time to bring her in and have Tony accidentally vaporise her.

And it certainly won't be Stark. He's got a movie in the works so they'll need to keep his profile high for that.

But then, if she's killed in the main story, anyone who didn't buy Front Line will probably wonder who she is...

Nah! I can't see anyone else dying... maybe Maria Hill...?

That'll get Batmanuel's defences up; there he is, defending Cap to the hilt... but he'd still try to persuade Maria Hill to change sides! Well, maybe for an hour anyway... or 10 minutes; however long it takes, I guess...
