Bloc Party and other gigs

I went to see bloc party at leas cliff hall at the weekend, they were awesome, the whole thing was awesome, i liked the new album tracks and the old ones were AMAZING as usual.

I know at least someone else went from here, i saw it mentioned. I was wondering what you thought or if you have been to any gigs recenetly or are planing in the near future.

The last band i saw before that was the Makeshift Minstrels in Caseys, they were awesome, always are.

The next gig i'm going to is LCD Soundsystem in March at the Astoria.

Ah the leas cliff hall, i remember it well, great little venue.

Well, in the upcoming year:

Saturday 24th February, I get to see The Epoxies in The Engine Room in Brighton. I can't bloody wait. I've loved this band for about 2 years now, they're amazing. This is the first time I've been able to catch them in all that time.

Friday 13th April I'm going to see The Beat and Neville Staple in the Concorde 2. WOOO for Ska.

Sunday 15th April is the 5th Bi-Annual Brighton All Day Ska Fest at the Concorde 2 again. At the moment, I've got Hotknives, Too Many Crooks and 2nd Time Lucky. Can't wait to see who else is billed for that, I love the Ska Fest. 10 hours of skanking. PLUS. Its the day before my 19th. Could I ask for a better Birthday Party? Possibly, but I'd involve The Mighty Mighty Bosstones getting back together.

I'm also still holding out to see Fandangle sometime, hopefully they can get a show at the Beercart. If not I'll just have to treck somewhere to see them.

May 26th I get [spunge] in Redhill.

I was planning on going to the Good To Go Tour, but this year the Aquabats arn't playing, so that can go and die as far as I'm concerned.

Other than that, I'mma see what pops up.

Ozzy with Black Label in June
And thinking about Pearl Jam.
The Rascal King

The Epoxies on Saturday! WOOHOO!
As well as, Reel Big Fish and Less Than Jake are touring together in the summer, in America, hopefully when I do my Cross Country Tour of there. Honestly, there could not be a better gig that a fan could ask for.
Well, there could be, but it involves a band getting back together.
waffle

I'm already getting worked up over seeing MUUUSE!!!!!!! at the new Wembley Stadium.
Web of Fear

As well you should, for I saw the Muse at Wembley Arena in November when they truly rocked.
Black Phoenix

well epoxies was a bit different tune, but generally can't stand Ska music, or as my old sig put it:

Rock pig don't like disco, rock pig don't like dance, rock pig don't like ambience, rock pig don't like trance.

Rock pig don't like R&B, Rock pig don't like soul, Rock pig just likes heavy duty bad ass rock n roll.

(now to find some room to include Ska....)

Though the 2nd Time Lucky song "Emo vs Ska" made me chuckle considering some of the music i listen to could be considered emo, like

Dead Poetic for instance, but most is just straight forward rock n roll just the way i like it. Very Happy
Reaper

Aerosmith June 24th at Hyde Park YEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS!
The Rascal King

Emo Vs Ska is such a crowd pleaser.
EPOXIES TOMORROW! HECK YEAH!

Edit: BY THE POWER OF GREYSKULL! Fandangle managed to get a gig here! In Kiad! 11th of March!
I'm gathering a Two Tone Army for it.
The Rascal King

OMG. SO GOOD.
Reaper

Anybody would think he was happy about it
The Rascal King

Whatever gave you that idea?
The Rascal King

Whoever can come, totally should!
Guest

Would love to be there if it wasn't for a lack of transport home.... Damn public transport!!!
kingmouse

The girlfriend got Aerosmith tickets but I bowed out. Reckon I can find a better place to part with sixty quid.

And how can anyone not like Ska? It's like the least offensive music imaginable.
Reaper

£60 on something better than Aerosmith?..... Not fecking likely seeing as they tend to do eight years between gigs over here. You're mad I say!. It's not just Aerosmith its a festival day and I didn't think the tickets were that expensive anyway. On Ska, its inoffensive but a bit like dance music for the rock world.
The Rascal King

My... everything hurts.
2 tone suits, while looking and being awsome, are a tad much to wear at such an active concert.

The gig was bloody great. The Plan were ok, starting off. Nice guys when I talked to them afterwise. The 7 Day Conspirsy got every going. And then Fandangle were bloody brilliant. But dancing that much. Ow. I ... there are no words. Lungs, feet, legs, arms. Body. Ow.
They remembered me, which was great, and I saw that the lead singer has a very simmilar tattoo to mine on his leg, which I pointed out and he thought was cool. Very good way to spend £5.

Also, meet a very pretty girl there. Must get number.

I'm thinking 6 albums from artists that don't have their best years behind them or a day ticket to a festival where more than one of the acts has already been announced. But that said, I spent 115 quid on a pair of Dirty Pretty Things tickets last year so I can understand wanting to spend a lot to see a personal favorite.

And how can Ska be considered the anything of the rock world? It's got it's roots far more in regge than in rock. There's certainly nothing wrong with Dance music either. The vast majority of the most interesting music coming out of the UK over the last few years has been from dance artists.
Reaper

Dance doesn't do much for me though I'd probably agree that its more interesting than the rest of the music being produced. I mainly linked Ska with Rock for its involvement of electric guitars and some rock stylings (weak link I know). Plus i don't think 'the dance of the reggae world' would have made sense.

You DO realise that Ska came before Regge, right? Without Desmond Dekker, Bob Marley wouldn't have come around. Regge has its roots in ska.

That was old school 1st Wave Ska, in Jamaca. Then came 2 Tone, with the advent of the Specials and the Skatalites, and skinheads, which really took off over here. Then about 20 years ago, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones speed it up, mixing in heavyer guitars, and keeping the horns, giving birth to that blessed sound that is 3rd Wave Ska, or Ska Punk, or Skacore.
The Rascal King

As I mentioned before, the Brighton All Day Ska Fest is the day before my Birthday.
A while ago, they released the first Poster for it:

Then another band was announced

And now, another Artist has been announced:

So now I get 12 bands playing for my Birthday, all for £8.50.

Very Happy
kingmouse

How can they not book 7Seconds Of Love? Whose going to get everyone to flip out like a ninja?
The Rascal King

"Flip out like a ninja"? No more Real Ultimate Power for you.
The Rascal King
