Blade Runner - Final Cut

Just been watching the new Blade Runner special edition.

This set (the 5 disc one - not blu-ray) is the one you have been waiting for if you are a fan of the film.

The "final cut" does not add many scenes / changes - although the ones it does are good - but the remastered picture and sound are stunning.

It also includes all previous versions of the films (theatrical, director's cut etc) and a workprint not seen before.

There are also hours and hours of extras - and I love that kind of thing. They have somehow even tempted Harrison Ford out to talk in the documentary.

What is more play.com are selling it for £17.99  - a bargain!

Is the hospital scene with Holden re-cut into the film?
CatFang

No.

They may say why on one of the documentaries but haven't watched them all yet.

They do show at least some of the scene in the "making of" section.

Also there are deleted scenes that I haven't watched yet (9 hours of extras!) so I expect it is in there somewhere.

The "Final cut" refers to Ridley Scott's vision of this as "what he wanted Bladerunner to be" so not all existing scenes are the same (some longer, some shorter) some extra stuff, but it hasn't restored everything ever shot.

Cool.  Fingers crossed for this for Christmas.
CatFang

Don't know if the £17.99 is a special offer. You better send that list off to Santa right away  Laughing

You internet nerd, dont come crying when you cant get a job cos the internet and the supermarkets have gobbled it all up, and you need a degree in phishics to get a job stacking shelfs. Wont be long before you will be able to buy a copy of the Watchmen in Tescos, but if you want Wormwood, tough tits, because all the specialist shop will be gone, and you will only be able to buy what the mass market want you to buy, and you know what... it will be of your own making Evil or Very Mad
But Bladerunner is still one of the greatest films ever made, even if it did flop at the box office when it was first realesed, it was just so ahead of its time,  you couldn't even get it in Tescos, bet you can now Razz

Well Santa brought me the Final Cut for Christmas that I've just finished watching, and the changes are very subtle.  So much so that save for a couple of changes, I had to look on IMDB to see what the changes were, and then check these against my copy of the Director's Cut.

They mainly tidy up continuity errors, but overall the changes are an improvement to the film and far less intrusive than the Star Wars changes.

I only have the Final Cut.  Personally I don't feel the need to own five versions of the same film, and as Ridley Scott states this is his definitive version, I'd imagine that this would be the only version Id want to watch from now on.

Lucky you. You were good all year after all then.

Also the remastering is great. The previous DVD we had just looked like someone had copied an old scratchy VHS over.

I'll watch the workprint version (haven't yet) - but yeah, this is the one that we'll be watching as the "real" version from now one.

I have a weakness for box sets with extras.
