Black Panther & Storm to join the Fantastic Four...?

I'm speculating here, and quite wildly too, but, y'know, I'm feeling very confident right now and would even be willing to lay down a Two Pint bet with someone (first come, first served; nothing for second).

Here's a line from Axel Alonso in a recent interview on Newsarama:

Black Panther and Storm are going to find a new home…and their family will grow.

This could mean that Black Panther and Storm are going to settle down and have children...

...but I don't think so! Shocked

It's fairly clear that, once Civil War has ended, there will no longer be a Fantastic Four as we know them. Indeed, several months ago, Wizard asked some speculatory questions to the fans (and they knew the answers) about Civil War. One of them asked what two new members would be joining the Fantastic Four? The options varied from Silver Surfer & Galactus to Hawkeye & She-Hulk to ... Black Panther & Storm.

The line mentions that they find a new home. Could be the Baxter Building.

The line mentions that their family grows. Could be they inherit Sue & Johhny Storm as family...?

Whaddaya think?

...just waiting for CapO to disagree now..

I hope not. I was kinda hoping for them to fade into the background after the world tour story's done. I've never found Storm to be that interesting a character and Panther just doesn't work when placed alongside other heroes. His story is about a king defending his people, not about a badass guy in a cat suit beating up cosmic thugs.

I want the new 4 book to still be about the original 4, but told through parralel stories to show how they cope without each other. In all honesty, I don't see them staying apart for long. I don't think Marvel has the balls to kill the team for more than a year or so.
Robin The Boy Wonder

Y'know, I really wish Marvel had the guts to cancel Fantastic Four; maybe only for a year to eighteen months and allow the characters to grow outside of the Fantastic Four:

Reed Richards could find himself working for SHIELD and the US Government on various top secret developmental projects. He and Sue are separated and he no longer sees his family despite the fact he secretly yearns for and to be with them.

Sue Richards has retired and is living in suburbia, raising Franklin and Valeria as a single mother. They've all adopted new identities; as far as the world is concerned - Sue Richards is dead. In the meantime, and unbeknownst to them, Sue and her family are under constant surveillance from Reed...

Johnny Storm has joined Captain America and his New Avengers. He's becoming increasingly aggressive with the use of his powers and has even suggested killing their enemies. Johnny has suffered the most since the FF break-up; life, as he knew it, has ended. No more partying, no more girls and no family to fall back on. He's alone in a team of super heroes.

Ben Grimm is still in exile. No one knows what has become of him...

This would then lead us into the relaunch and the opening story arc: 'World Without A Fantastic Four'. Obviously, the FF would eventually reunite but the reasons for them to be together would be drastically different than before.

If Joe Quesada's reading (or anyone from Marvel), this idea is only for sale if I write it! Very Happy

Heh...
but in all honesty that some heavy S**T you are laying down there wonder boy. some very interesting points too,
but how can there be a Fantastic Four without the Fantastic (Founders of the Marvel Universe) Four, the mind Boggles. but then how can the rift within the group be reconciled, my guess is that they cant, not yet anyway, a civil war tends to cut very deep and it can be years (in the real world) for people, even partners to forgive. we will see, we will see.

That's true; the rift between Reed and Sue has never been this wide before. There's no easy reconciliation here, just as there wouldn't be if this were a real marriage.

I really like that idea. 52 and Frontline have given me a real taste for books with multiple character stories.

From a business standpoint you need them back together in time for the film and you need them to have solved their differences and be doing a fairly simple story that people with no idea of continuity can jump onto.

Thats a very good point, when is the next FF film scheduled? but its such a shame that the comics has to be ruled by Hollywood and dollar share. Buy Hey, It pays the rent.

They be aiming for a 15th June release in the states and possibly over here. Wonder if they will actually pull off the Silver Surfer.....

And it makes people pick up comics for the first time, which is good for everyone. June's enough time to do a break up and reformation story so long as the release scheduel is tight.

I'd guess we'll see Silver Surfer over in Ultimate Fantastic Four rather than the 616 one. I just think 616 FF will be too busy being a different team to the one we're used to.
Robin The Boy Wonder

Looks like I was nearly right about the new Fantastic Four.

Black Panther and Storm are joining:

But with Human Torch and The Thing! Shocked I honestly expected Sue Richards... so where is she...? Shocked

Reaper

To a certain degree they aren't moving that far away from the standard formula in as much as Storm and Black Panther are married, so they are replacing Reed and Sue.
Batmanuel

Sue storm is off enjoying Namors Cod and Chips.
Robin The Boy Wonder

Hey! What's up with Ben Grimm's jaw?!? Shocked
Batmanuel

Yeah Ben Grimm's jaw looks like a bird bath, or some sort of weird animal feeding tray.

I think that might work. They could set up a detective agency in Miami and drive around in speedboats. Johnny meets loads of girls, Ben beats things up, Storm walks around in a 2 piece and offers a way for Logan to make cameos and Panther hangs out with lots of black guys and allows for borderline racist humour. It's bullet proof.

Superb! Laughing

Marvel released a new possible Fantastic Four line-up today...

Anyone else NOT excited about this one...?
Guest

Hmmm - well there is 5 of them for a start....
Robin The Boy Wonder

6 if you count Ego, The Living Planet.

Unless you had counted him and missed out the weird looking fella that looks like a 90s comic reject.

I sincerely hope it's not this one; it sucks. I mean, can you imagine Galactus on the FF, living in the Baxter Building and supping a cold one with Ben Grimm on Yancy Street...?

Hey, waitasec... Very Happy
Guest

Still could be quite funny.

All the lines like...

"ok - whos got Ben?"

"Ummm - I thought it was your turn!!!"

"God damn Galactus - now someone has to go back and get him!!!!"
kingmouse

Only if it's a teen gross out comedy where they all get jobs in a fast food outlet and Galactus falls for the girl next door.

Personally I wanna see more issues of Thing and the French guys, that series has got miles left in it yet.

I read that last night. The story was going nowhere until Ben Grimm got to France and then... well, it was cool.

If Galactus joins the FF, I wanna see a love triangle for Alicia Masters!

i thought it was the biggest waste of civil war crossover space yet.

In a Civil War sense, then, yes, it was.

But if you appreciate it as a separate entity to Civil War, then it works incredibly well IMO.
kingmouse

What if did do very nicely was highling how simple everything USED to be. It made me feel sorry for all the poor characters like Grim who have just been pulled into this war without having much of a say on either side.

But mostly it was just flat out enjoyable.
Batmanuel

prehaps that should not have put the Civil War logo on it, prehaps they should have made it into a oneshot, De Ting in France, Dinner time wit De Ting in France, De Ting eats Frog Legs for Dinner... in France, prehaps they could have used the idea for a mini series to keep De Ting name copyrighted.
The more i think about it, the more i realise what a pack of bollocks this issue really was, so theres your third option Cap O, go to F**kING FRANCE Laughing

They'd deport him within 24 hours! Laughing

And The Thing in France is cool. I'll make you say it with me even if it's the last thing I do...

I agree it was a waste of an FF issue that could have been used to develop Reed and Sue's relationship. But surely you can't say you didn't enjoy it as a daft one off?

yeah sortta, in a perverse sort of French tendancy sort of bizzare way Smile

Marvel make me chuckle sometimes...

In the same week that Marvel release an alternative 'New Fantastic Four' cover image, they release the cover and solicitation for April's Black Panther. Forget the solicitation; this says it all:
