A Bats Eye ViewBats Checks out the New Captain America
Captain America # 34

Marvel
And so it came to pass that a new Captain America would grace these pages… and who better to review it than one who supported the Captain from day one?!
Now I am by no stretch of the imagination a writer of any sort, let alone a reviewer, but I will tell it as I see it - I can't say fairer that that.
As we all know by now, the Winter Soldier is taking up the star and sheild (I don't think this is a spoiler of any sort as anyone who read the last issue would have to be pretty thick not to have got it).
With a redesigned suit, he embarks on his first mission with the Black Widow, carrying a side arm as well as the shield. The Winter Solider informs us within the dialogue that he has always carried a weapon and, now that he has a bloody great big target on his chest, the need for a weapon has become even more necessary!
The pacing in this comic is fast and very little time is wasted on anything other than that which is needed. With the Widow as a side kick, the Winter Solider steams ahead like an unstoppable hurricane! We also see that maybe he just might have been practicing with that shield as he seems to use it to great effect. Oh, and the firearm comes in handy too! I found it quite amusing to see three Aim agents being kneecapped!
While this is going on the director of Shield is trying to make some sense of the nightmare scenario which surrounds him. With riots on the streets and members of the public out in force and up in arms (you will have to read it to know why), all while trying to convince the higher powers that what he is suggesting is indeed the correct way to go.
Until on the final page the shit hits the fan and…, well like I said read it.
This is nothing short of high octane entertainment from beginning to end and gets a corker of an overall rating of...
9.8
Those responsible for Brand New Day can only read it and weep.
Me?
I'm bloody cheering!
