waffle

300

Well - got to sit and enjoy this in the Deluxe screen at Cineworld last night, and have to say I enjoyed it immensely.

Although it takes a while to get going, with more prologue than is strictly necessary, once the action starts, it more than makes up for it.

There is so much blood it's unreal, and more head-slicing action that Sleepy Hollow which, as you can guess, is a hella lot of head slicing.

Gerard Butler is very loud and shouty as King Leonidas (although Scottish), but Dominic West's slimy politician is the best performance in the whole film.

Lena Heady as the queen is pretty hot - but it's all just garnish on top of the enormous bloodbath the audience are there for.

One last thing - and remember to comment once you've seen the film: What about the Oracle's nips?!?!
Web of Fear

Going to see this tonight. Looking forward to it.
Web of Fear

I saw this last night and enjoyed it.

I knew that it was going to have to be "filled" because the graphic novel is something of a quick read, so I was a bit surprised that the small sub plot about Stelios was dropped.

Only a minor quibble through.
Robin The Boy Wonder

I intend to see this film... and it'll probably stay that way until I watch the DVD. Sad

But, one thing in this thread has piqued my curiosity...

So, the Oracle's nips then? What about them? Very Happy

my feelings exactly - there was an awful lot of waffle that diverged from the GN, yet they cut some character development? I had such high hopes for this film... but still, Spiderman 3 still to come, eh? I don't remember the (somewhat shoehorned-in?) sex scene at the beginning either, but that could just be a sign of old age...
Reaper

Nothing wrong with a sex scene shoehorned in for good measure I say... now I'm waiting for that to happen in the X-Men, FF or Spider-Man series
Robin The Boy Wonder

Not worried about scenes of a sexual nature in either Spider-Man or X-Men...

Now if they have a scene with Susan Storm... or the deliriously sexy Jessica Alba to you mere plebs... well, I'll be all over that one! Very Happy
Reaper

Yeah you can't do that in a public cinema...... they ban you for that
Azadhar

I loved this film, Once again it fely like watching a Frank Miller comic come to life, I did notice Leonidis ocassionally slip into Scotts Bur though. Xerxes was appropriately camp and as an ethnic Afghan who has always hated *&%$ing persians I thought this was amazing.
The Rascal King

Reaper knows from experience.
Longshot

I did think half way trough that for a bunch of greeks they did sound very scottish. but then again theres nothing wrong with that.

The orical's nips were wierd, i did think that that film probably had the largest number of nipples ever.

I havnt read the GN but i did think that it was really good, and the story was quite good, got me cheering on the spartans.

Some great lines in it, one of my favs was probably:

King: Spartans what is you occupation
Spartans: OOOOHHH, OOOOHHH, OOOOHHH
Reaper

Best scene in the film is where they're standing in this sea of death and destruction and Leonardis is munching on an apple saying there is no reason to not be civil.

Really enjoyed this film, it was shot beautifully, acted really well and the sound bombarded you from all sides. Damn I want to see it again.
kingmouse

Fantastically daft and visually stunning. Sure the story wasn't much hack and a lot of the non fighting scenes were pretty much just filler to get to the next ruck, but there's nothing wrong with that when the fights are that well done.
