Heres something different, alongside reading Cancertown I've been reading Complete Peanuts Vol. 3 , which I managed to pick up for a meager £5 at a popular clothing store in Bluewater.
I don't know if anyone else has read any extended period of the 4 pannel strip, as I had only read one 'Charlie Brown' book up till purchasing this, as well as having seen numerous TV shows. I have to say this stuff really is very endearing, with genuine comedy or truely bizare interactions all put down in the space of 4 boxes [12 on a Sunday].
I have to say I am thoroughly enjoying these and as a back to basic comic strip such as DC are trying to get, nothing comes close to this. Especially the early stuff in this before any real formulas had been worked out, its all very 'free jazz' as it were.
Anyone else read any of this then??? _________________ Itchy... Tasty
Well Hurrah for you.
i mean this sincerely, sometimes it isn't about how clever the narrative is, and sometime less is definitely more,
peanuts is a very good example of this.
If you want an insight into the sixties working classes, try Andy Capp. brilliant.
