This may be old news to some; however, there may be those of you who are unaware...

This summer, Ed Brubaker will end his three-year Daredevil run with the double-sized 500th issue. The story will end on a cliff-hanger (just as it was when Bendis handed over the reins to Brubaker) with present Thunderbolts writer Andy Diggle taking over the reins.

Contrary to some internet rumours, Brubaker left Daredevil of his own choice, even though he had begun mapping out his next story arc. It seems that it occurred to Brubaker he had an opportunity to leave the title now and establish a possible tradition of the cliff-hanger finish. After all, it appears the end result of Daredevil 500 will be a serious change to the status quo.

Furthermore, Brubaker is not leaving Captain America and is not preparing to leave Marvel either. He's working on the Marvels Project series with Steve Epting as well as a top-secret story for Marvel.

Andy Diggle, in the meantime, is stoked to be handling Daredevil and the announcement followed the news that Diggle is now Marvel-exclusive.

There is no news concerning whether or not the series artist, Michael Lark, is either leaving with Brubaker or remaining on the title.

Kind of mixed feelings about this.  On one hand DD has been great with Bru at the helm, and on the other, I do think maybe it's time for a change.  With Bru's first story dealing with Kingpin leaving the US, and the current arc being about his return, it does seem to bring things full circle.

Also DD will reverting to original numbering, like several other Marvel titles have done.

I think Brubaker's departure has come at the right time.

I felt his run started exceptionally well, although has since withered slightly. His stories feel more slow-paced than when he started and aren't holding my interest quite as much now.

His dialogue is still exceptional, and there have been some fine moments (more recently, his sexually charged romp with Dakota was really very well handled); however, I just feel his run has just slowed to a crawl.

I haven't started reading Return of the King yet, so I reserve the right to withdraw the above if the finale is exceptional (Bendis' run sagged a little before an exceptional end too), so all could be forgiven yet.
